Good luck on the hunt.

Thanks for the well wishes, but you gotta take the bad with the good sometimes. Right now I'd just like to see a little more good.

Been searching a bunch of coins a friend of mine has saved over the years. He doesnt care about silver or copper so he told me to take what I want and dump the rest on my weekly dump runs and bring him back the FRN's. With his protest, any AU I find I am paying him around melt. I am not keeping totals searched only nice finds I get.

AU finds....So far I have found:
1 - 1964 dime
1 - 1944P war Nickel

Also getting lots of copper in this stash. Will post these over on the CU handsorter thread.

CU found:
246 CU Memorials
3 wheats (1912 the oldest)

Will report more as I dig through these.

Thanks for the update. Unless I get some totals on the coins searched, I won't be able to enter these finds into your SILVER totals.

Just curious, how is this different than finding a few silvers in the coin machine?

I look at it this way. Plucking SILVER out of the coin machine is like plucking SILVER out of a teller tray. One coin searched, one coin found. Digging through a friend's coins and bringing the discards back to the bank, is like looking through CWRs and bank bags. You know what you've found, and you know what amount of coins you cashed in and how much the bank gives you back in CASH.

Since you didn't just pluck the good coins out as like a teller's tray, you sorted a quantity of coins, like a bank bag. That's how I see it.

The latest SILVER stats for January have been posted. Look to the first post of this thread to get the details. Always look to the line just before the Kitco quotes to see the last post that was included in the latest update.

This will be the last update for January until the final January update is posted on February 1, 2011.

15 Big Dollars - 15 Morgan Silver Dollars!!!

It is what we are all hoping for when we ask for coins at the bank. It was a dream come true! But alas, twas not to be my dream. Seems I arrived at this particular bank about half an hour after they handed these out to some other lucky guy. Guess I shouldn't have spent so much time rolling zinc. Timing is everything.

$325 CWR dimes - 1 '62D and 1 '63D

When I was dumping dimes Saturday the teller mentioned they get coins in from the McDonald's down the road, and a 1921 Morgan was among them. Another teller snagged it though :( I know my pick-up branch would have saved it for me, since I bring them Krispy Kreme's once a month. Maybe I better start sweetening up my dump branch lol.
