I'm in awe CardNCoins. I actually can not remember the last time I opened a box and had silver there on top - not this year I'm pretty sure. Hat's off to you.

CardsNCoins wrote:I upped my Friday order to 6 boxes, and boy am I ever glad that I did. The numbers you're about to see still seem unreal to me, but after many pinches I still haven't woken up, so they are in fact real. Box 6 had 45 rolls with at least 1 walker or Franklin in it, and many rolls had 5, 6, and 8. There was even one roll with 9 and one roll with 12. Here's the box by box breakdown with some pictures underneath.

$500 Brinks box #65
1 -1967

$500 Brinks box #66
1 - 1964
2 - 1967

$500 Brinks box #67
25 - Walking Liberty (dates to come later)
30 - Franklin (dates to come later)
1 - 1967

$500 Brinks box #68
1 - 1943 Walking Liberty
1 - 1966

$500 Brinks box #69
1 - 1967
3 - 1968
1 - 1969

$500 Brinks box #70
88 - Walking Liberty (dates to come later)
80 - Franklin (dates to come later)
1 - 1964
3 - 1965

All in all there were 239 Keepers and over 83 ounces of silver. Here are some pictures of this spectacular evening.

FANTASTIC!!! IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. CONGRATS...

Went out dumping zincs Friday and figured I'd look for halves too. This is usually not a productive effort for my area in terms of FV or silver. First bank had three rolls. Teller mentioned that I might find silver in them. Knew right away that I would not find 90%. But took them on the slight chance of a 40%. Nada.

Another bank had $76.50 loose. Found '66, '67 x 2, and 2007S.

And my missing Loomis boxes finally arrived.

Box 1: '68D
Box 2: '64, '67 x 2, '68D x 3

Total for the day (and week): 1 90% and 9 40%.

The latest SILVER stats for March have been posted. Look to the first post of this thread to get the details. Always look to the line just before the Kitco quotes to see the last post that was included in the latest update.

I'm new to the penny board today. This is my first post to this category. This month I've searched approx $1800 in CWRs of dimes. I look for old BUs, proofs, errors, DVs and of course silver. I've found 13 roosevelts and 3 mercs. Last two weeks I've hit 18 banks, gathering $324 in halves. Found one walker, one franklin, two 1964s and four 40% Kennedys. I also ask for "big dollars" and found only 15 this month but at one bank I noticed the one "Ike" a teller handed me was silver and to my surprise, it was a 1922 Peace $ in XF! It's the third old silver dollar I've found in the past five years, searching an estimated 10,000 big dollars, all from banks. As an item of interest, since this is my first post in this category, my best three finds are: #1: Out of $140 in CWR halves, I found $110 in 90% silver, including $70 in Franklins. #2: Out of $290 in halves I found $273 in silver, 17 coins were 90%, the rest 40%. #3: About two years ago in one Strings box of halves (I used to do them for a while until the number of silver regularly dropped to zero) I found 199 pieces of silver. 28 walkers (I knew it was going to be a great box when immediately upon opening it, I saw 2 walkers on the ends!), 37 franklins, 18 90% and 116 40% Kennedys. To date, during the past 5 years of searching well over $50,000 in halves, I've found over 200 proofs, 7 heads-heads, one tails-tails and 19 pull-apart (scotch 'n soda - magic trick) halves with the machined-out center reverse containing a Mexican 20 centavos piece. I find them via two methods: a. I check every half for a rotated reverse - *every* time it's been one of these "trick" coins. b. I weigh all the rolls I get. These trick coins weigh about 0.7 grams less than a regular clad half, so a CWR usually weighs under 225 grams. If the weight is low, I do a quick binary weight search.

Welcome to the forum.......sisuraha!

Nice to see someone else post about checking for rotational errors. I look at every coin that passes through my fingers and have yet to find a rotational error of even a slight degree.

Why search only CWRs? What has caused this preference for you? I enjoy reading/learning about the preferences of other sorters so thanks, in advance, for your reply.

Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. :geek:
