Awesome! I was just extremely curious as to what you had found. My dad was born in 1909 so it has special meaning to me and I have yet to find a 1909 coin of any kind. Did buy a 1909 dime though to have.

At least you have a brain to have "Christmas on the brain". My brain left me, I think. It must have gone further south to retire. Can't seem to think straight or remember anything these days.

Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. :geek:

Yep I feel lucky that I found 3 1909-P and the 1909 Indian Head just this year. I've bought a few lots this year and so my 1909 total is closer to 25 for the year including 1 vdb. I know it's all luck when the teller goes to the coin vault. You know they're going to grab the easiest box or two. Now luck will be in charge of your finds. I like to think it's karma, though!

Found a very worn 1909 and I don't see how it can be a VDB. I have found 3 VDB's previously and I have found my first plain 1909 (Lincoln) about 35 years ago.

I found my first 1909 Lincoln tonight in a $25 Brink's box of pennies. Not my first ever, but the only one I've found this year. No VDB or mintmark, just a 1909-Plain; but it is a decent VG with many wheats showing. Lincoln was born in 1809, this penny was minted a 100 years later, and now I find it a 101 years after it was minted. Interesting that the gap in time between when Lincoln was born and when this cent was minted is the about the same as the gap in time when this penny was minted and when I found it. It gives you some perspective.

Nice find. Wonder how long before you find one next year...how many boxes did that take?

I guess I was just luckier. I know I didn't go through 90 some boxes but was lucky to score '3' 1909 phillies and '1' 1909 indian. I do plan on keeping better records for this coming year. A big hat's off to Country for the work on the tracking threads. GREAT JOB!

What three is that? I have you down for one plain and one VDB from 2010 and the plain again on 1/3. Let me know and I will add whatever else you say.

Totals through 2010: 46 plain Lincolns, 22 VDB Lincolns, 3 plain Indians, 2 S Lincolns, 2 V-nickels, 1 Barber half, and 1 international coin.

I've decided something... This club will be permanent. There are few enough finds which qualify that I don't see any reason to start a new thread for 2011. Same goes for the proof tracking thread.

PS - there are currently 51 members of this exclusive club. And despite being the visionary who created this awesome club, I am STILL not a member.

This nickel came out of what was a “Trifecta Box”. That box contained this V Nickel, a buffalo nickel, and a War Nickel.

Having both a cent and a nickel, does that mean I get 6 votes in club business? :D

Found are first 1909 one Franklin missed. I thought it might be fun to pull some copper before it went back to the bank and found it. Franklin just pulls the wheats and missed it.
