I'm now up to 2,400 rolls, or forty-eight boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 2,301-2,400:

* 1942 - 1977: 418, or 8.36%.
* 1978 - 1979: 117, or 2.34%.
* 1980 - 1981: 182, or 3.64%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1212, or 24.24%
* U.S. pre-'82: 132, or 2.64%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 17, or 0.34%. Ten (10) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2078, or 41.56%.

The percentage reverted to about normal this time. I have to admit we Canadian sorters are fortunate in that Canada stayed with copper until '97.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 332, or 6.64%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

I reached a certain milestone: 1/4 of the way done. I'm now up to 2,500 rolls, or fifty boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 2,401-2,500:

* 1942 - 1977: 426, or 8.52%.
* 1978 - 1979: 111, or 2.22%.
* 1980 - 1981: 172, or 3.44%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1091, or 21.82%
* U.S. pre-'82: 139, or 2.78%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 26, or 0.52%. Seven (7) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 1965, or 39.30%.

I slumped back below 40%, but not by much for these two boxes. Maybe my luck will change for the better next time.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 274, or 5.48%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

Now up to 2,600 rolls, or fifty-two boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 2,501-2,600:

* 1942 - 1977: 416, or 8.32%.
* 1978 - 1979: 117, or 2.34%.
* 1980 - 1981: 185, or 3.70%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1193, or 23.86%
* U.S. pre-'82: 123, or 2.46%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 25, or 0.50%. Seven (7) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2059, or 41.18%.

JUst as my earlier good luck didn't last, my more recent bad luck hasn't. I'm back to near the average.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 271, or 5.42%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

I've reached 2,700 rolls, or fifty-four boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 2,601-2,700:

* 1942 - 1977: 753, or 15.06%.
* 1978 - 1979: 133, or 2.66%.
* 1980 - 1981: 157, or 3.14%.
* 1982 - 1996: 988, or 19.76%
* U.S. pre-'82: 115, or 2.30%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 91, or 1.82%. Twnty-nine (29) of them are wheaties. I counted 6 keepers as non-copper.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2231, or 44.62%.

It's been like night turning into day, particularly in the keepers department. Maybe I got some bank rolls by mistake! I normally don't report my foreigns, keeping them anonymous in the keepers department, but I want to make an exception in this batch: I found a 1942 Newfoundland penny. That one makes for the second found by a handsearcher this year.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 253, or 5.06%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

Now up to 2,800 rolls, or fifty-six boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 2,701-2,800:

* 1942 - 1977: 402, or 8.04%.
* 1978 - 1979: 118, or 2.36%.
* 1980 - 1981: 178, or 3.56%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1202, or 24.04%
* U.S. pre-'82: 147, or 2.94%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 15, or 0.30%. Nine (9) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2062, or 41.24%.

This batch is roughly normal. Again, my luck has faded to average.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 272, or 5.44. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

$25 Brinks box

707 pre 82 coppers (28%)
+ 71 1982 coppers
+ 44 wheats (oldest 1919, 1934)
+ 23 Canadian Copper
+ 1 1987 dime
+ 11 S-mint (68, 69, 70x2 and 73x7, all of the 73's were BU).

$25 Brinks box
479 pre 82 coppers (19%)
+ 34 1982 coppers
+ 18 wheats (oldest 1929)
+ 4 Canadian Copper
+ 2 S-mint (69, 73).

The first box was loaded with 60, 63, 70, 73 and 75 BU coppers. I do separate those and build rolls of AU+ coppers. Plus getting so many wheats in one box made it alot of fun.

Two weeks ago I hit a new percentage low with a batch of $25 CWRs. This latest batch of $25 CWRs was even worse (and the coins were a whole lot dirtier too. :( )

After spending some time straightening out the rest of my life, I'm now up to 2,900 rolls, or fifty-eight boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 2,801-2,900:

* 1942 - 1977: 493, or 9.86%.
* 1978 - 1979: 159, or 3.18%.
* 1980 - 1981: 283, or 5.66%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1367, or 27.34%
* U.S. pre-'82: 122, or 2.44%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 13, or 0.26%. Six (6) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2437, or 48.74%.

I was lucky enough to get another hot streak. If the '82s-'96s aren't counted, my percentage would be 21.4%, which is way above the norm. Lucky me, for now.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 316, or 6.32%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

Three-tenths done now. I'm up to 3,000 rolls, or sixty boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 2,901-3,000:

* 1942 - 1977: 380, or 7.60%.
* 1978 - 1979: 131, or 2.62%.
* 1980 - 1981: 178, or 3.56%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1116, or 22.32%
* U.S. pre-'82: 117, or 2.34%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 21, or 0.42%. Eleven (11) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 1943, or 38.86%.

Not that surprisingly, some bad luck folllowed the good (again.) It's all part of veering back to the mean.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 270, or 5.40%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

Now up to 3,100 rolls, or sixty-two boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 3,001-3,100:

* 1942 - 1977: 490, or 9.80%.
* 1978 - 1979: 130, or 2.60%.
* 1980 - 1981: 192, or 3.84%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1196, or 23.92%
* U.S. pre-'82: 113, or 2.26%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 18, or 0.36%. Nine (9) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2121, or 42.42%.

Good time, bad times, then normal times. Such is the dance around the mean percentage.

Another tracking category of interest:
