I guess six straight days of 90+ degrees has kept people and their coin jars indoors. The weather is supposed to finally break tonight...better luck next week

At my last stop there was a guy ahead of me pouring coins in from a gallon jug. On the floor were two pails and a handtruck. He was just a typical working stiff who had squirreled away change...not a coin sorter. His total came to around $1800. I was more excited than he was

For some reason not much going on with Canadian here this season. Not even a lot of foreign coin period. Got $0.01 yesterday. Have had a recent spike in Icelandic coin, never seen before. Someone must've stopped there probably on the way to/from Europe as there are some flights out of OIA that do a refueling stop there.

2 stops over the weekend
Stop1: $4.90 (thank you toonie)
Stop2: $1.92
Have not had much coin time lately. I was really starting to miss my magnet hauls. Got 2 more dumps ready for this week.

The pisser was I saw silver halves in the 50 cent bag when they opened it for service. Tried (again) to get them to at least let me swap coins but no deal. non negotiable policy. ugh!

One thing about TD, for better or worse, their policy is whatever it is at that particular branch on any given day. I'm dealing with 14 "stores" (as they refer to them), and there are different rules even between stores 1/2 mile apart.
Most throw the foreign money in the dumpster; some claim they have to reconcile it daily; and still others say they were told via email to give it to the coin service people. Wouldn't every branch have gotten that corporate email?
A few branches would sell me Penny's cent bags. Others acted like I asked them to commit a felony. Oh, and don't ever try to play one against another. Not good. I lost a lucrative branch early on by not keeping my mouth shut when I should have. You guys already know that, no doubt.
And employees come & go. So keep asking...non-negotiable rules be damned!

yeah when I see silver I've gotta ask no matter. I've got one branch where several of the people (not all - but many of them) would at least let me trade coins if they weren't too busy to help me.

I got $16.45 in Canadian coin from the bank last week. They throw all the rejects in a cup and usually throw them away. I had to promise they wouldnt come back to the bank. This was a mix of coins and doesnt count pennies which I put in my jar of Canadian cents.

Found a 200_ canadian quarter today at dump bank. Then i went to a random thrift shop and traded it for a 1968 canadian dime. They thought they pulled one over on me... I know its not worth much but hey, its more than a new canadian quarter.
