Canadian Nickel Box #63

99.9% nickel pre-1982 nickels: 85 (4.25%)
Pre-1963 Canadian nickels: 3 (1961x2, 1960)
Pre-1960 American nickels: 1 (1958)

Hello everyone! We have started coin roll hunting through $100 boxes of Canadian nickels consistently again, so I thought that I might track our results in this thread again (but really I just want to try to get mtalbot to start sorting again for his awesome updates ;) ).

This first box back wasn't too bad. We found 85 pre-1982 99.9% nickel nickels and a few older Canadian 12-sided nickels and an older American nickel. We are really hoping to get into the 3-5% range for the nickel bullion nickels (preferably on the higher end of that range), so this was a good box for us. It will be interesting to see exactly how much the percentage shave dropped since we last went through nickel boxes consistently roughly two years ago. Pictures and a video can be found below if you would like to view the results that way.

Hope everyone is having fun in their searches and getting some nice results.

Hello everyone,

Glad to see some activities in this thread. Thanks to CanadianCopper and Henrysmedford for their support. I have to say that I am tempted. I might do a trial run to see what is out there this fall.

Cheers,

That is awesome to hear mtalbot! You've hit the 500,000 nickel goal so I can definitely see why you would like to focus on other areas.

I would note that we just did a box and got 11.5 percent 99.9% nickel nickels in it, so there are still some good boxes out there. Of course, we have also got some low 3 percent boxes and even some with no bullion nickels (all machine wrapped or plastic wrapped rolls), so it is a bit of hit and miss as always.

Hope you are well and all the best!

Canadian $100 Nickel Box #64

99.9% nickel pre-1982 nickels: 70 (3.5%)
Pre-1963 Canadian nickels: 3 (1961x2, 1957)
Pre-1960 American nickels: 1 (1948)

Not a bad box this time around. 70 99.9% nickel nickels is right in the range that we would expect these days, so it was a nice result. The 1957 Canadian nickel and the 1948 American nickel were nice finds too. Only a couple years off, but I feel like we are getting closer to our first American War Nickel find.

Pictures and a video can be found below if you would like to see the results that way. Hope everyone is doing well in their searches and having a lot of fun along the way!
