A very worn clad Roosy dime in a Walmart Coinstar today. Almost looked counterfeit, but just heavily worn. Date is hard to read, but the mint mark is on the obverse, so it is definitely clad.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

Thought I'd add a little tidbit about finding silver dimes in Coinstar machines...

Since Feb. 2012 I've been tracking silver that I've found or gotten for face value from various sources, Coinstar, vending machines, finding on the ground, etc.

I figure that I go to Walmart approx. once every three days or so. That is roughly 121 times a year. Since I've found 6 silver dimes in Coinstars at grocery stores (mostly Walmart) (no quarters by the way), that means that I check approx. 108 Coinstar machines before finding silver.

Anyone else have any stats on this?

Coinstar at the local Walmart...

Went when I first arrived at the store- nothing. Checked again when leaving and found the following:

4 dimes
1 nickel
4 pennies
Total of 49 cents

No good dates, except that one of the pennies is a pre-82 Lincoln (copper).

1943 steel cents, although not rare or particularly valuable, are VERY HARD to find in the wild. I'm not sure if I've seen one in circulation or a bank roll in the last 40 years or so. It is much easier to find War Nickels or Buffalo Nickels or even Indian Cents in my opinion.

August totals (2017 totals)

1¢ - $.35 ($3.50)
5¢ - .80 (2.75)
10¢ - .20 (3.90)
25¢ - 4.75 (13.25)
50¢ - .00 (.50)
Total - $6.10 ($23.90)

Nice mid-month Coinstar score of 39 coins gave August a good total.

No foreign or tokens

$1.23 at Food Lion coinstar. Four quarters, two dimes, three zincolns. All common coins.

Note: I have found maybe 3 steel cents (1943) in coinstars over last 5 years. See above entry.
Indian head cents I have never found in circulation. My uncle says that when he was in grade school, in about 1955, a classmate showed him an Indian penny his parents had given him from circulation. But since then he doesn't recall an Indian penny in circulation. Not sure about the rarity of each in circulation. Steel pennies seem somewhat more common in circulation, perhaps only for me. (2017-1955 that's 62 years)

1987 Canadian dime- technically it was on the floor in front of the Walmart Coinstar machine.

Dunno how often you guys see this, but lately I've been encountering "Machine Full" or "Out of Order" quite a bit. I visit 3-4 times a week (Smith's also has an ATM, post office, etc). Uber frustrating.
