25 pre 1960 keepers- possibly my lowest total to date- oldest was 1940 (x4; 2x '40P and 2x '40D; one '40D is AU50 ) 3 Canadian ('94, '98, '00) 1 2009D (only my 3rd '09 nickel found so far...) 2 S mints ('53, '54) 1 magicians coin
As mentioned above, one '40D is absolutely beautiful (easily AU50; it still has full steps!!); and I found a '59 that is probably about EF40 (some spotting).
From $30 of CWR- 3-1938D's, 1939, 1939D, @ 25 from the 40 and 50's. Found in one roll a 1938,39,and 40 Canadian nickels, plus 7 other pre 1982 Canadian, and 3 war nickels.
Also found another 1950D in XF condition plus VF-XF 1938 and 38D and a 1951S. They all have a very similar surface and very nice condition which makes me think they were previously collected and dumped.
I have found a number of 50D's in the last year. This is my second nicest.
3 boxes of nickels 1st box had 52 pre 60's the most i have ever found with a 44-d and 44-s 2nd box had 25 pre 60's with 1 cayman islands coin 3 rd box had 22 pre 60's with 45-s

"The study of money, above all other fields in economics, is one in which complexity is used to disguise truth or to evade truth, not to reveal it. The process by which banks create money is so simple the mind is repelled. With something so important, a deeper mystery seems only decent." John Kenneth Galbraith 1975

Last Thursday I was told by a teller in one of my local banks that another teller had taken in some old dimes, but it turned out that a customer had brought in some old nickels. I seldom do nickels but I never pass up an opportunity to sort anything that may be valuable. He only had three rolls left which I bought. They were all 1950s or older ... mostly 1941.
from 3 CWRs I found:
1 buffalo (no date) and 15 war nicks
1 1942-P 3 1942-S 3 1943-P (no DDOs) 3 1943-S 2 1944-P (one with a nicely peeled lam) 1 1944-S 1 1945-D 1 1945-S
Not bad for my first nickel search in about 6 months ... I may just return to doing them. BTW, this wasn't the same bank or even the same area in which I scored 404 silver dimes on Tuesday
I've been accumulating CWRs of cents for two plus years, waiting for that rainy day ... well guess what, that day has arrived ... I'm broke ... time to get rid of the two tons of zinc!
