Since the Holiday’s are upon us I have ended my searching for the year. My goal for 2011 was to roll up a dollar a day and I have exceeded my goal. From here on out I’ll be stacking boxes and rolls for next years sorting. I finally found a wild Indian this year and a cool Civil War token along with a mix of foreign coins. The ten cent New Zealand was found in a CWR with an odd bulge in it as it is larger than a penny. I just started counting the 1982 coppers towards the end of the year. My overall copper percentage dropped to 30.8% in 2011 from 32.7% in 2010. Below is my November tracking and
my 2011 totals.

I've gotten to 4,100 rolls, or eighty-two boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 4,001-4,100:

* 1942 - 1977: 547, or 10.94%.
* 1978 - 1979: 142, or 2.84%.
* 1980 - 1981: 171, or 3.42%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1058, or 21.16%
* U.S. pre-'82: 128, or 2.56%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 45, or 0.90%. Seven (7) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2091, or 41.82%.

Quite the haul of pre-'78s in this batch. It's either the first or second time I've had more than 10% in that category.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 279, or 5.58%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

Just made it to 4,200 rolls, or eighty-four boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 4,101-4,200:

* 1942 - 1977: 472, or 9.44%.
* 1978 - 1979: 122, or 2.44%.
* 1980 - 1981: 176, or 3.52%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1169, or 23.38%
* U.S. pre-'82: 124, or 2.48%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 17, or 0.34%. Five (5) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2080, or 41.60%.

Down on the low side again. Thankfully, I had another nice haul of pre-'78s.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 264, or 5.28%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."

My first post here so I hope I format it right:
11 rolls ($5.50)

I didn't collect 1982s, I will next time.
123 Non wheat Copper 1959-1981 (22.36%)
2 Wheaties (0.36%)
1 Canadian (1981) (0.18%)
424 Zinc 1982 - Present (77.1%)
What I learned here:
A penny saved is a penny earned, 145 pennies saved is a pound.

Thanks for the report. Since you've posted your October COPPER totals last month and now your November COPPER totals this month, they both will be included. However, your yearly totals will only reflect these two months since I do updates on a monthly basis. Please post your totals at least once a month to have them included in the stats. Thanks...

For your November totals, I am assuming that your total COPPERs (non-Wheat, non-Canadian) is 3960 (3715 (1959-1981s) + 245 (1982s) )

I've made it to 4,300 rolls, or eighty-six boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 4,201-4,300:

* 1942 - 1977: 779, or 15.58%.
* 1978 - 1979: 98, or 1.96%.
* 1980 - 1981: 156, or 3.12%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1004, or 20.08%
* U.S. pre-'82: 96, or 1.92%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 57, or 1.14%. Ten (10) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2190, or 43.80%.

The best haul of pre-'78s I've had ever.

Another tracking category of interest:

I'm now up to 4,400 rolls, or eighty-eight boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 4,301-4,400:

* 1942 - 1977: 723, or 14.46%.
* 1978 - 1979: 114, or 2.28%.
* 1980 - 1981: 152, or 3.04%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1089, or 21.78%
* U.S. pre-'82: 99, or 1.98%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 35, or 0.70%. Eight (8) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2212, or 44.24%.

Can't say why, but I've hit a rich vein of nice and heavy pre-'78s. Great as long as it lasts...

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 284, or 5.68%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)

I'm made it to 4,500 rolls, or ninety boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 4,401-4,500:

* 1942 - 1977: 474, or 9.48%.
* 1978 - 1979: 107, or 2.14%.
* 1980 - 1981: 168, or 3.36%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1133, or 22.66%
* U.S. pre-'82: 131, or 2.62%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 28, or 0.56%. Four (4) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2041, or 40.82%.

Once again, the old luck has changed. The pre-'78 strike played out. Had to happen sometime.

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 303, or 6.06%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)

One special note. I've found two Guatemalan centavos, one from 1976 and another from 1969. You can add Guatemala to the list of countries with finds from us guys.

I also found a '42 Newfoundland earlier.

I made it to 4,700 rolls, or ninety-four boxes, in my 10,000 roll journey. The pennies are Canadian unless otherwise identified. Here are the stats for rolls 4,601-4,700:

* 1942 - 1977: 425, or 8.50%.
* 1978 - 1979: 151, or 3.02%.
* 1980 - 1981: 175, or 3.50%.
* 1982 - 1996: 1210, or 24.20%
* U.S. pre-'82: 138, or 2.76%. These are all non-wheat, non-'82 coppers.
* "Keepers," or semi-numismatic coppers that a naive or sentimental collector would keep: 12, or 0.50%. Ten (10) of them are wheaties.
------------------------------------
Total coppers: 2111, or 42.22%.

I'm back on an even ride with respect to the mean percentage again. Canadian keepers are getting scarce...

Another tracking category of interest:
* U.S. pennies, '82 and after: 279, or 5.58%. (I dump away all '82s, so I have zero '82 coppers.)
I did it. I've been crazy enough to sort through 10,000 rolls of pennies. Almost makes you think, "some people will do anything to build up a coin collection."
