Over 2 bucks in change in the bin, along with what looks to be a 1961 D silver to me!! I also feel like the 9 might have a die error:

March's finds were coming by the handful and as a result the US tally eclipsed Jan & Feb's combined total. First up was a nice batch of 31 coins left at a Coinstar, then I found dozens of nickels abandoned in a casino coin counter reject chute. Just as good as a Coinstar find in my book! And if you told me my first silver dime of the year would be a Merc, I wouldn't have believed you, but it happened on the last day of the month. Managed a few foreigns but nothing too exciting.

March totals (2022 totals)

1¢ - .75 (1.62)
5¢ - 3.25 (3.95)
10¢ - 1.80 (4.10)
25¢ - 1.00 (3.50)
Total - 6.80 (13.17)

Included in March's total - 1941 wheatie (x2), 1936 Merc
Apartment complex parking lot (year to date): $1.05

Canada
1 cent (2007)
10 cents (2007)
25 cents (2014)

Israel
10 agorot (1991, 1998)

Philippines
50 sentimo (1989)

Token
Chuck E Cheese (2007)

The March trend of finding handfuls of coins thankfully continued into April, leading to a top ten month for US finds. It was the eighth time I've found over $10 in a month, the clear highlight being the oldest wheatie of the year so far. Foreigns have been pretty soft lately but I did manage a new country.

April totals (2022 totals)

1¢ - .46 (2.08)
5¢ - 1.00 (4.95)
10¢ - 1.50 (5.60)
25¢ - 7.25 (10.75)
Total - 10.21 (23.38)

Included in April total - 1929 wheatie
Apartment complex parking lot (year to date): $1.19

Canada
10 cents (2011)

Japan <---13th country for 2022!
1 yen (1989)

Tokens
Minamo (no date)
Namco (2000)

2022 countries (13)
Brazil, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Guatemala, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland

First Coinstar excursion of the month was a stark reminder to be careful!

There was nothing at this one machine but I could see a bunch of coins in the small trash can next to it. I reached in twice to fish out what I could and walked out with a fistful of goodies which I carried clenched in my left hand. I don't like to inspect my finds in front of people, lest they get ideas.

Get to my car, open my hand and see some 30-odd coins, a religious medal, some keys...and an inch-and-a-half long shard of glass.
I was extremely lucky not to pierce my palm or slice open a finger on this thing. My instinct is always to just grab what looks promising in trash cans but I will now be much more careful.

Close one. Glad you’re ok. So were any of those coins good?

Thanks.

They were kind of a mess actually. $1.93 in US, mostly clad & zinc, with a few bent pennies and stuck-together duos and trios. Took about 15 mins to clean them up to be ready for re-entry into circulation. The two items that stood out were the religious medal (ID'ed as St. Benedict) and a 1979-D quarter that looks like it was put through a penny-smashing machine, but it has no design. Probably just some random abuse.

After the juggernaut that was April, this month's US total was a reality check. Good to see foreigns pick up the slack with a couple of new countries. Canada especially is make a nice showing this year, having already passed 2021's total. Can it pass 2019's record of C$8.30? It's already halfway there and we still have all of June before mid-year. My quintet of countries that have always appeared every year was completed when China made an appearance.

May totals (2022 totals)

1¢ - .64 (2.72)
5¢ - .20 (5.15)
10¢ - 1.50 (7.10)
25¢ - 1.50 (12.25)
50¢ - .50 (.50)
Total - 4.34 (27.72)

Included in May total - 1940 wheatie
Apartment complex parking lot (year to date): $1.55

Canada
10 cents (2012)
25 cents (2007, 2016)

China <--15th country for 2022!
1 jiao (2005)

France <--14th country for 2022!
5 euro cents (2016)

Great Britain
1 penny (1993)

Philippines
10 sentimo (2017)

Tokens/Medals
Andamiro game token (1992, South Korea)
Mr Car Wash (no date x2)
St Benedict medal (1994)

2022 countries (15)
Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Guatemala, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland

Five countries that have always been found each year (2016-2022):
Canada, China, Germany, Great Britain, Mexico (completed 5/23/22)

A single canadian penny in my local Walmart Coinstar. I did better at my local banks lobby coin counter. $1.76 consisting of 7 quarters and one copper cent. Dont know why they were in the reject chute, they all were in good shape and one quarter was an AU 2020 Salt River Bay.

A nice cache of abandoned coins in a casino counter reject chute saved this month's totals from being quite subpar. I forgot how little I like checking Coinstars when the temperature hits 105+, and perhaps that's all for the best since I doubt people like to venture out in that heat to cash them in. Breaking last year's record haul seems pretty out of reach but all indicators point to a decent year. Let's see how the 2nd half of 2022 goes.

June totals (2022 totals)

1¢ - .30 (3.02)
5¢ - .35 (5.50)
10¢ - 3.10 (10.20)
25¢ - 1.50 (13.75)
50¢ - 0.00 (.50)
Total - 5.25 (32.97)

Apartment complex parking lot (year to date): $1.74

Canada

5 cents (2008)
10 cents (2011)

I NEVER use coinstar, but I periodically stop and check if anything is there. Found a dime and a penny at a local coinstar today. Free money is always good.
