Nickel Tracking III

Postby JadeDragon » Sat Sep 11, 2010 2:14 pm

Post your nickel sorting/hoarding activity here. Canadians are generally looking for pure Ni nickels (1981 and older, some exceptions) and Americans are generally looking for silver war nickels and those elusive pure Ni Canadians.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw.

$100.00 Box of customer wrapped rolls from my local credit union finished sorting late last night:
I was hoping to bag me some Buffalos, but none to be found. Just the new Jeff/buffalos and not too many of them.
4 pennies  at least one was copper!
2 Silver War nickels
2 Canadian .999 Ni
1 1939 Jeff
6 1940's non-war
6 1950's
I have not searched nickels in a long time but that box was pretty quick and fun. I will be hitting up the Credit Union again soon.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

I'm a rookie too, so don't feel stupid. I didn't know some of the abbreviations. The only stupid question is the one not asked. :D

I got 1 CWR today; $2 in nickles. 25 pre-1960; the other 15 were 1960-63. One dateless buffalo, but no silver, and nothing older than 1940. Great roll, but not much to show for it. I went back into the bank and asked the teller if she had ANY more of ANY denomination that might have come in with those. I will find out tomorrow.
