What have you found in pocket change during your daily transactions? Outside roll/bag searching that is. Weird, rare, whatever is interesting.

This has been a very popular realcent thread. For the first part of 2010 see this thread at old realcent: http://realcent.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~14798.asp

The other night I got to work to start a night shift. When I opened the register I noticed a beautiful '63 quarter. It is the nicest condition one I have. Then I flipped through holder where we put dollar coins and halfs and heard the sound of silver. I moved the dollar coins out of the way and saw a Franklin staring back at me! I almost fell to floor. Later that night I got a '64 dime. Payed face for all of them. Over all I would say a nice haul.

Are you sure that the date is 1968? Decimalization began in 1969 for the Jamaican coins.

Jamaican 20c coins start in 1969. Krause does not list any 20c decimalization coin prior to that date. Could the date be corroded such that a 1969 looked like a 1968 to you? Perhaps, if you could post a photo, that might help determining what this coin is... :)

Got your email telling me that the Jamaican coin is dated 1969....

KM-48 20c Jamaica Copper-Nickel, mintage 3,750,000. This copper-nickel coin is the first year that Jamaica minted decimal coins.

At work the other day, I bought a Snickers from the vending machine. In change, I got a '41 Nickel. I didn't think much of it until I went back a few hours later for Peanut Chews and landed a '43 Nickel out of the same machine. I bought a few other items but nothing "interesting" came out in change.

Two other nickel finds to report. NOT FOUND SEARCHING ROLLS.

My mother-in-law got a 2009 nickel back in change from the shopping Mr. PTP did for her at Wal-mart. She had me check her change for any goodies before she put it in her change jar and she let me have it to put in the kids' anniversary coin jar.

I also found a 1961 Proof nickel that I had received in change from my recent shopping. This coin was also an upgrade coin for my nickel album.

I got a 1968 Canadian dime. I've received lots of these over the years, but this is the first one that wasn't magnetic.

50% silver!

Saw a penny on the floor at Wal-Mart last night, as I was walking from the register to the front door. There was someone right behind me, so i scooted it out of the way with my foot and "pretended" to notice it because of that. Went over to pick it up... 1968-S. Not valuable, per se, but still the lowest mintage of any circulation strike memorial.

Not sure if its pocket change - but don't see a thread for coinstar finds.

2 elongated pennies
2 wheats - 1935 and 1952
2 canadian nickels - 1960 and 1966
1 canadian quarter
and......

1920 Mercury Dime! SILVER!

Walking by a pepsi machine this morning and looked at the change return tray and saw a shiny 1944 Quarter staring back at me! (Quarter is in pretty good shape)
First quarter I've found in the wild in 2 years.
