Hello Fellow Copper Penny Handsorters:

In July 2012, please post your finds right here.

For those of us who handsort our COPPER, this is the place to report your COPPER treasure. I'll be working up some statistics as the reports flow.

Please report the face value of the pennies searched and the total number of US COPPERs found. Also, list the total number of Wheats, COPPER Canadians, and any wonderful Indian Heads you find. If you find foreign coins in your search for COPPERs, list them too. List the percentage of COPPERs found: the percentage I use is the number of coppers (non-Wheats, non-Canadians) found in the face value of pennies searched. Personally, I breakdown my US COPPERs into 4 categories: Wheats, Clean COPPERS (1959-1981), Ugly Abes (1959-1981), and 1982s (the Ugly 1982s I send them back into the wild); I roll mine up separately and put them into separate $25 boxes for storage.

I'll try to post some graphs of our COPPER finds as 2012 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2012 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.

It might be interesting to see how many Indian Heads, Wheats, and COPPER pennies are found . I'll try to keep track of all of these.

Just weighed out the next box and it puts this one to shame. I've been returning boxes, for instance 3 boxes, one was this one, one the next I will post, and one, mostly 2012's, very weird. Luckily she's letting me bring boxes back, AND open them right at the teller window, then she goes back into the vault and grabs me another one for me to inspect and either reject or take, very cool.

Box #2 Found a 1916 and 1917. I don't find much post 97 Canadian, maybe 1 or 2 per box. Nice box compared to the last, but they are weird right now. I got two, checked both boxes at the bank and 48/50 ends are shiny. Sent back on the spot, brought two more and I just took them, looks to be a decent mix. Seven boxes behind right now, I date my boxes when I bring them home, but they are just another month behind is all, plus with these cornell sheets I can draw extra lines, add extra info, dates from each roll, roll weights, long term records.
