HIGHLIGHTS OF December's SILVER SEARCHING:
December half searching was more than $50000 less than November. Production of SILVER halves was down too. $146,223.50 halves were searched, but only 1092 SILVER halves were found, and 84% of them were 40%ers. Less than 4 SILVER halves per box on average were found. War Nicks found decreased to 103 in December, there were 174 SILVER dimes found (40 more than November), and 5 SILVER quarters were discovered in the wild. Both Dumpster Diver and fasteddy had a 26 SILVERs box; these were the best half boxes in December. However, slickeast reported in December that he found 90 SILVERs in a $1000 bag in late November (counts for December). CardNCoins grabbed 8 SILVER dimes out of a $250 box of dimes during November, highest found in 2010. zerocd found 6 War Nicks in a $100 box too.
On the leadership boards: sdmarasso found the most SILVER halves (166), just nudging out BamaJoe who had to settle for second with 159 SILVER halves. rakattack and gravybro tied for first finding the most SILVER dimes (27), just beating out cwgii who found 26 SILVER dimes this month. zerocd was the best at finding War Nicks (52) and cwgii was second best with 19.
Other highlights are as follows:
12/5 - slickeast reports finding 90 SILVER halves in a $1000 bag on 11/26 (counts for December).
12/9 - zerocd finds 6 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels.
12/5 - argent_pur finds 5 SILVER dimes in a $250 of dimes.
12/11 - Dumpster Diver and fasteddy bot find 26 SILVER halves in a box.
12/18 - zerocd finds 7 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels.
12/23 - agmoose finds his first V-Nick ever from a box, a 1903.
12/24 - zerocd finds an 1883 "No Cents" V-Nick in AU condition in a box of nickels.
12/25 - HoardCopperByTheTon gets 71 1987 NIFCs in a box of halves.
12/30 - CardsNCoins finds a stupendous 8 SILVER dimes in a $250 box of dimes, the most found in a box in 2010.
For the entire year of 2010: 12kHz found the most SILVER halves (2248) and UDEric was closing in on him at years end with 2109 SILVER halves. Hirbonzig found the most SILVER dimes (261), cecropia_moth found 228, and rakattack found 224. zerocd found the most War Nicks (389) and cwgii found 240 of them too. Also, there were 2 Seated Liberty dimes, 3 Barber dimes, 4 Barber/Peace dollars, 1 Capped Bust half, 12 Barber halves, 24 V-Nicks, and a couple Barber quarters reported on the thread in 2010. In addtion, rakattack found the most Mercury dimes (28), 12kHz found the most 40% halves (2042), zerocd found the most Barber halves (4), UDEric found the most Walkers (223) and Franklins (254), AmalekiDad found the most 90% Kennedys (220), 12kHz found the most SILVER proof halves (6), BamaJoe and AGCoinHunter each found the most SILVER commemoratives (3, most of which were Stone Mountain halves), Dumpster Diver found the most Clad Proofs (124), AmalekiDad found the most Clad Commemorative halves (12), Country found the most Clad NIFCs (412), zerocd found the most V-Nicks (10), and finally zerocd found the most Buffalo nickels (reported here in this thread).
The best SILVER searcher score for 2010 was earned by zerocd. The larger the score for the more coins searched and enhanced by the many SILVER coins found. Congrats ...
Some of the 2010 highlights (please forgive me if I left something out, because there were many to choose)
2/11 - 12kHz finds 161 and 287 SILVER halves in two different boxes.
2/2 - slickeast finds a $1000 bag of halves that yields 289 SILVER halves.
2/9 - Mcprice snags 108 1971-S proofs.
2/25 - zerocd finds an 1857 Large Cent.
***March 2010 was hot!!!
3/6 JJM finds a stupendous score of 397 SILVER halves in a vault bag.
3/13 - 12kHz gets a 155 SILVER box.
3/23 - zerocd snags a 132 and 140 SILVER boxes.
3/25 - 12kHz blows everyone away with 3 monster half boxes: a 131 SILVER box, a 235 SILVER box, and a fantastic 311 SILVER DREAM box.
4/17 - UDEric finds 9 solid rolls of SILVER CWR halves (including 80 Walkers and 78 Franklins) .
4/30 - Hirbonzig finds an 1801 Large Cent in a roll of halves.
5/4 - slickeast finds a $1000 bag with 183 SILVERs.
6/18 - bankmining has one his best SILVER days ever with CWRs - 136 SILVER halves including a solid roll of '64s and almost 3 solid rolls of 40%ers
6/27 - rainsonme finds an 1854 dime Love Token .
6/29 - slickeast finds another great $1000 bag with 134 SILVER halves in it.
7/8 - UDEric gets his best half box ever: 113 SILVERs.
7/12 - AGCoinHunter finds 104 SILVERs in a $1000 bag of halves.
7/23 - AGCoinHunter gets a great half box: 136 SILVERs, including a beautiful Stone Mountain commemorative half.
9/8 - gravybro gets 8 SILVER dimes in a box, the best dime box this year.
9/18 - Country finds a boatload of NIFCs in a half box - 156 of them, including 138 2010's.
9/20 - BamaJoe finds an 1838 Capped Bust half in a box, the oldest SILVER coin found this year.
10/20 - UDEric finds 90 Walkers, 50 Franklins, 3 90% JFKs, and 40 40% JFKs in 20 rolls of CWRs.
10/31 - zerocd gets two boxes of nickels and finds 7 War Nicks in the first box and 6 War Nicks in the second box.
11/2 - zerocd finds a record 14 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels.
11/15 - knibloe gets 11 SOLID ROLLS OF SILVER in a CWR pickup: 51 JFK 1964's and 169 40%ers.
11/30 - sdmarasso reports in having searched 168 boxes of halves ($84000) this month; his finds include 361 40%ers, 90 90%ers including a 1954 Washington-Carver commemorative.

It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2011 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2011 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.

HIGHLIGHTS OF December's SILVER SEARCHING:
December half searching was more than $50000 less than November. Production of SILVER halves was down too. $146,223.50 halves were searched, but only 1092 SILVER halves were found, and 84% of them were 40%ers. Less than 4 SILVER halves per box on average were found. War Nicks found decreased to 103 in December, there were 174 SILVER dimes found (40 more than November), and 5 SILVER quarters were discovered in the wild. Both Dumpster Diver and fasteddy had a 26 SILVERs box; these were the best half boxes in December. However, slickeast reported in December that he found 90 SILVERs in a $1000 bag in late November (counts for December). CardNCoins grabbed 8 SILVER dimes out of a $250 box of dimes during November, highest found in 2010. zerocd found 6 War Nicks in a $100 box too.
On the leadership boards: sdmarasso found the most SILVER halves (166), just nudging out BamaJoe who had to settle for second with 159 SILVER halves. rakattack and gravybro tied for first finding the most SILVER dimes (27), just beating out cwgii who found 26 SILVER dimes this month. zerocd was the best at finding War Nicks (52) and cwgii was second best with 19.
Other highlights are as follows:
12/5 - slickeast reports finding 90 SILVER halves in a $1000 bag on 11/26 (counts for December).
12/9 - zerocd finds 6 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels.
12/5 - argent_pur finds 5 SILVER dimes in a $250 of dimes.
12/11 - Dumpster Diver and fasteddy bot find 26 SILVER halves in a box.
12/18 - zerocd finds 7 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels.
12/23 - agmoose finds his first V-Nick ever from a box, a 1903.
12/24 - zerocd finds an 1883 "No Cents" V-Nick in AU condition in a box of nickels.
12/25 - HoardCopperByTheTon gets 71 1987 NIFCs in a box of halves.
12/30 - CardsNCoins finds a stupendous 8 SILVER dimes in a $250 box of dimes, the most found in a box in 2010.
For the entire year of 2010: 12kHz found the most SILVER halves (2248) and UDEric was closing in on him at years end with 2109 SILVER halves. Hirbonzig found the most SILVER dimes (261), cecropia_moth found 228, and rakattack found 224. zerocd found the most War Nicks (389) and cwgii found 240 of them too. Also, there were 2 Seated Liberty dimes, 3 Barber dimes, 4 Barber/Peace dollars, 1 Capped Bust half, 12 Barber halves, 24 V-Nicks, and a couple Barber quarters reported on the thread in 2010. In addtion, rakattack found the most Mercury dimes (28), 12kHz found the most 40% halves (2042), zerocd found the most Barber halves (4), UDEric found the most Walkers (223) and Franklins (254), AmalekiDad found the most 90% Kennedys (220), 12kHz found the most SILVER proof halves (6), BamaJoe and AGCoinHunter each found the most SILVER commemoratives (3, most of which were Stone Mountain halves), Dumpster Diver found the most Clad Proofs (124), AmalekiDad found the most Clad Commemorative halves (12), Country found the most Clad NIFCs (412), zerocd found the most V-Nicks (10), and finally zerocd found the most Buffalo nickels (reported here in this thread).
The best SILVER searcher score for 2010 was earned by zerocd. The larger the score for the more coins searched and enhanced by the many SILVER coins found. Congrats ...

5/4 - slickeast finds a $1000 bag with 183 SILVERs.
6/18 - bankmining has one his best SILVER days ever with CWRs - 136 SILVER halves including a solid roll of '64s and almost 3 solid rolls of 40%ers
6/27 - rainsonme finds an 1854 dime Love Token .
6/29 - slickeast finds another great $1000 bag with 134 SILVER halves in it.
7/8 - UDEric gets his best half box ever: 113 SILVERs.
7/12 - AGCoinHunter finds 104 SILVERs in a $1000 bag of halves.

11/15 - knibloe gets 11 SOLID ROLLS OF SILVER in a CWR pickup: 51 JFK 1964's and 169 40%ers.
11/30 - sdmarasso reports in having searched 168 boxes of halves ($84000) this month; his finds include 361 40%ers, 90 90%ers including a 1954 Washington-Carver commemorative.

It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2011 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2011 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.
