tue 21st

good steel 100 lb at 185 ton
al extrustion 7 lb at .66
copper content 10 lb at .10
#2 ins wire 50% .. 14 lb at .94

I get confused.. one day the wire is .94 another 1.04, 144. all over the place.

the copper content is funny too........ it is a odd mix... the bulbs I have been pulling off xmas lights, the plug ends

sat 25th

#2 copper 4 lb at 2.61
dirty al 25 lb at .28]
al clen sheet 15 lb at .59
al cast 4 lb at .60
al extrusion 30 lb at .76
clean steel 440 lb at 195 ton

which when you look at tues. is at different prices due to my using the ''punch card '' for the 10 $/ton or .10 a lb bonus.

so it pays to make a bunch of small cash ins , then a truck load for the 'bonus' day.

Did some recycling of scrap from around the homestead.....

We had a hail storm this spring, it trashed our gutters and TV attenna - these were the major items in the pile....
Also had some cans, wire, elec. motors, and misc. aluminum.

Breakout was:

sheet aluminum 108# $.55 $59.40
beverage cans 11# $.45 $ 4.95
aluminum breakage 26.5# $.10 $ 2.65
#2 insulated copper 7.5# $.80 $ 6.00
Elec motors/brkage 6.5# $.15 $ .98

For a total of $73.98

Boat was not included....

Not a great haul, but it will help pay for the co$t of running gas & vent line to the gas heater in the shop.

Trying to keep separate piles of steel here but getting confused on what they are buying at your yard.

Shred
Clean steel
#1 prepared 1/8 " thick
#1 unprepared
#2 prepared 1/4 " thick
#2 unprepared
and now torch prepared steel

Yep $120.00 net at the yard I go to as well. I wish I had room to store steel and stockpile it. But I have enough piles of stuff around here.

THEY called it 'automotive cast' at 165... and got 165 for the saw legs. still got .10/lb for copper content. bulbs and cord ends.

today I scored an ab lounger, and a weight bench. --100 lb of cast iron weights. 4- 15 lb ers that are plastic cased ]sand] . going to use them as weight for the sunshade pop up legs.

$.055 for steel that hurts I am going to unload some items that I don't want to clean up / break down that way I can have some more space to hold better steel items... Wicker wrapped chairs, microwave full of shred, mops, brooms and other bulky items. Won't be that good of load but that's ok...

ah one never knows... today at one thrift store I scored a bunch of totes . most were the type with a bi fold top.. with the tops but not the 'body' broken.
some small steel shelving-wire racks.
two lightweight mop handles.

next thrift , allows me in their 30 yard dumpster.. well they did , but they sent off the one they had. the city put the new one in, and it has a locked rear gate. grrrr hard to get in , much less get stuff out. but did pick up a big box of cardboard. and one vacuum for the motor and power cord.

next thrift. got pissy about me taking the steel base off a recliner that was sticking out of the dumpster.

get to the gfs work. and notice a mop handle sticking out of the neighboring dumpster . when I picked it up there was a flourecent light fixture under it.

yesterday , the dumpster at one park was so overflowing that folks were piling stuff beside it. tore down a evaporative cooler and a copy/fax machine--which turned out to be too much time for the return.

mops, brooms SEE, these are things that I think are worth the couple of minutes to use the sawzall on . cut off the handle and the end --plastic insert , then cut in half and you have ''processed' and the bonus it brings.

like the yard owner told me... either you take the time to upgrade it. or just keep getting the shredder price. return on time invested.

I was thinking the added weight of the mop head / broom would make turning it in as shred better than preparing it? But not sure now... LOL

from a fridge

sealed unit 22 lb at .015
al clean sheet 8 lb at .50 ... this was the 'edges' of the shelves and the door handles
prepared 21 lb at 155
torch 23 at 135
sheet 160 at 115... this included two large garbage cans filled with tin cans.

soo9oo.. the 'value added' amounted to 10.48 by taking it apart. with a couple little leftovers... wiring harness , nuts and bolts. the little bit of solid copper going from the sealed unit to the aluminum 'radiator' .

lolol and the fact that the 'body' of the fridge got to be a container for the tin cans.
