Here are my stats (Rodebaugh):

I hunt in WV

02-14-11
-2.5 Hours hunted at my winter pool lake (new area)
-11 Zinc pennies
-7 copper pennies
-3 Nicks
-1 Dime
-4 Quarters
-I did find a ring but I think it is some sort of base metal and I broke it.....ooops

02-15-11
-1 Hour hunted at the lake(after work quickie)
-12 Zinc Pennies
-5 Copper keepers
-1 Nick
-3 Dimes
-No quarters
-this is the same area that I pulled gold and silver from last year. amazing the amount of coin one "walks over".
Yep the lake is lowered to a winter pool. They drop it by about 75 feet for winter. The lake has a lot of natural cliffs that provide great swimming and jumping areas. I hunt these "hot spots". Some areas have silt but most are crush and run up to boulder sized sandstone bottoms. As for digging depth...1-6in with an average of about 2". The best part is I do not have to fill my holes back in as they will be covered with 50+ feet of water come spring. And yes you have time....now sell a roll of halves and go buy a detector.

2-16-11 yesterdays after work quick hunt
-2 hours
-7 zincs
-9 coppers
-0 nicks
-15 dimes
-3 quarters
-Overall a nice fun hunt at a new location (kids baseball field). Half way through the hunt I focused on dime or better signals and did much better. Still learning my machine.

Hunted today for a couple hours before it started the rain,

2-18-11
-16 zins
-4 coppers
-1 nick
-4 dimes
-7 quarters
-new area...on the lake.....still saving the "hot spot" for a latter date

TheJonasCollegeFund stats:

Hit my baseball field by the house.

2-18-2011
1-hour hunt
4 zincers
1 copper cent
2 quarters

Total = $0.55

Lots of DEEP mud. This area had 3-5 foot of snow two weeks ago! Still some left.

I got out today for twenty minutes. I'll post results later. Not a bunch. The coins are sitting in some water to wash the mud off. But, the Propointer was AWESOME. I found coins today that I would have left last year out of frustration! No gold or silver...better...a matchbox or hot wheels car....that's soaking, too!

I gave my coin shooter son a ProPointer for Christmas - He's had it out twice already and he loves it! It's very sensitive and it will pick up minute bits of metal that the discriminator won't pick up. He says the ProPointer really cuts down on pinpointing time. I got a Lesche digger with a 7" blade for Christmas. One side is a knife edge and the other side is serrated. It's supposed to be really good for cutting sod and it could double as weapon too. :o

The ground is muddy slop here and will be for a while with more rain coming in this week but when I start getting out to coin shoot I'll post what I got with you and Rodebaugh.

Wow $14.04 in change and some gold. Nice going bman!

You guys must live in some populated areas. Where I'm at I have to hope the hereford's will drop some change. Seriously, I have to drive a ways to find people. More power to you if you have areas that yield. This year, after some research, we are going to start hunting timbered areas that had logging activity years ago and areas where the threshing crews used to congregate in the fields. Hoping to shoot some more silver like we have the last few years. It's a long hunt in those areas but sometimes they payoff.

My buddy and I went together today and we drove over an hour to get to the area where we hunted and we hit several spots for 1/2 hour to 1 hour each.

I live in Oregon and love to detect. I even go to England once a year to do nothing but detect for two weeks. This September will be my fourth year doing that. Not out too much yet this year. I usually like to go to places that are different:

2/6/2011 By the Rogue River

6 zinc
2 copper
1 nickel

9 total

Found lots of fishing weights. We have a local guy that runs a dive shop and makes dive weights with lead. He pays 50 cents a pound. 1 hour

2/13/2011 Grassy triangle area in town.

9 zinc
22 copper
5 nickels
8 dimes
4 quarters

One nice sterling ring, pewter bracelet with inscription, gold plated ring (plate chipping off) 2 hours. Big tree here. Kids must hang out but I've never noticed in the past.

2/27/2011

8 zinc
4 copper
1 dime

Went to a place I'd never been to before. High grass, junky area by a charter school. Threw about a dozen aluminum cans in the back of the truck. Found a broken brass lock and some assorted brass/copper fittings. Did much better on the raw metals then the coins. That's Ok it was a sunny day. 8-) 45 minutes

Now that's a nice day spent detecting. Congrats on the gold and all those quarters.

here are the pics of the gold earring from Sunday and the silver ring I found on Saturday 2/19/11.
The earring keeps switching between 0.4 and 0.5 grams on my scale....it must be 0.45 grams or something like that. :?
I also found 19 quarters and some other coins but I didn't count them last weekend when I found the silver ring.

A pinpointer is a must! I use a DetectorPro jobbie that is tied to the headphones. Toggle swich on headphones goes from detector to phones. Pretty expensive though. :(
