The 2016 coins should be starting to show up soon. I have enjoyed seeing where and when each coin has been found first, so I thought I would start a new thread for 2016. Post where and when you find them and I will try to put date and finder in this first post. If you don't mind it might be interesting to know what city or at least what part of the country the coin was found in.

Good idea - I moved it into the Tracking threads section. Canadian coins too.

Found Feb 6th at work. I always seem to get my first new coin at a grocery store.

How about the Presidential and Native American Dollars added to the list. I know they are NIFC like the Kennedy Half Dollars. Also there are clad "S" mint National Park Quarters as well.

I got a penny and a nickel today in Western NY. Both Philly.

I still haven't seen a 2016 coin.

A few 2016-D pennies have been showing up in the boxes and CWRs that I have sorted recently. I finally got my first full box of them this past weekend.

A bit late but I got some NIFC 2015 Canadian halves for face from the bank.

I got a "P" dime the other day in a bag. I turned it back into the wild. I figured that someone had already claimed the spot.

Do they have a premium? I still have the $1K bag, I could date sort it.

Looks like coindood knows where to find them. I still haven't seen a 2016 coin yet. I added Canadian coins and just about put a cent on the list. Might be a long time before someone found a 2016 Canadian cent.

I found a 2016-D dime in a batch of rolls I sorted on Saturday. It's mixed in with all of the other dimes I'll be dumping. I didn't see the "D" dime listed in this thread but I doubt I'm the first guy here to run across one.

This is pathetic! Already well into June and I still haven't seen a 2016 coin yet. Anyone else from Minnesota found any yet? Keep posting your finds.

I snagged a Philly Cumberland Gap from the till at work. My first '16 quarter. Made me remember I need the next Whitman.

Well I finally got my first 2016 coin! My mom always saves nickels and copper cents for me and gives me a small container of each for my birthday and Christmas. Yesterday was my birthday and when I looked through the nickels Lo and Behold a 2016-P. Normally in Minnesota the D mint coins are the first to show up and the P mint coins show up later so that is a little different. Thanks mom!

+1! I got a Philadelphia Shawnee in change from the gas station tonight.

Not a first to find, but I got my second 2016 today. A Cumberland Gap D quarter in change at Applebees. I had to go all the way to Kansas to get it.

My wife and I are in Harpers Ferry WV. We met our daughter here at the half way point on the Appalachian Trail, she is attempting a Northbound thru-hike. Well I found a bank that has rolls of Harpers Ferry P quarters so I bought 4 rolls. Can I claim first to find for this one or does the coin have to be gotten in change? I did not buy them from the mint, so they are sort of in circulation. I am going to claim it unless someone objects. Oh, I also bought 6 more rolls of quarters and they are just about 100 pct P mint marks so now I can fill a lot of the holes in my coin books.

Update: My daughter completed her thru-hike on Sept 15th. She started on April 6th, so it took her about 5 months and a week. Way to go Kaitlin!

Yup, I say claim it! Best of luck to your daughter! That is really cool. Thru-hiking the AT is number one on my bucket list! I'm far from being old but I'm surely no spring chicken either. I hope to attempt it in the next few years. A lot of logistics to get in order. Sorry for getting off topic but just reading that got me kind of excited. Give her my best, Katahdin or bust!!
