I gave flowers to the tellers the other day. Monday a sleeeze put all kinds of crud in the coin machine. one of the girls was cleaning it out. mentioned to another that there were 4 ikes in the reject bin.. I offered to buy them , ok she said.
well today, I walk in and she says,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i have 34 dollar coins ....... 14 ikes, 10 peace 10 morgans. yeahhhhhhhhha

Wait a minute- are you saying that the teller called them Peace dollars and Morgan dollars? If she did that and didn't know to save them, then I'm shocked!

Saabman: I've been following the tracking threads, and wondered how you were handling the logistics of the ordering of halves with the tellers/banks, and dumping, etc. Do you buy a box per day or buy them 5/week and open one box per day? Just curious.

P.S. I also found one of the Statue of Liberty Clads 3.5 years ago while searching a box.

Posted: Mon Feb 27, 2017 8:01 am@Shazbot57 - I'm really lucky with my pickup bank. They were new to the area and were looking for customers when I approached them about ordering boxes for me. I became friends with the manager and the tellers over the years (bringing treats and just stopping in to say "hi", etc.). They order 6 boxes a week for me and allow me to pick up as many or as little as I like. I normally just do 3 boxes a week (one at a time) and have 3 on "standby" just in case they forget to order or if they don't have to order for themselves that week. It's all about the relationship I have with the people there.
Dumping is another matter.......I used to have two dump banks but one made me re-roll before they would take them and the other has a coin counter. I think I've just gotten a little lazy and only use the coin counter bank now. There are several branches near by and at lunch I just head over to one and dump. The main branch has most of the same people there when I started and they get treats to say thanks for putting up with me and changing the bags when I fill them. Again, though, its all about relationships.........
I think that Statue of Liberty was my 5th or 6th (it was an ender too!). A couple of years ago I got a box with 3 or 4 of them in it.
