$250 Canadian dimes, machine rolled and looked to be cleaned of all US, silver, and Ni coins. Skip
$250 Canadian dimes, also machine rolled but with US dimes visible. $4.20 US and 1 80% dime (1949)
$500 Canadian quarters, machine rolled with no US visible, so likely cleaned, though I can see a couple pure Ni coins. Skip

Sorting out my foxex bucket into country envelopes. Got over 90 countries now. One of the better finds (only silver so far this sort) a 1944 50% Silver Six Pence. Great looking coin design. http://www.silversixpence.com/1944-sixpence-coin.php. I've pawed through the box before, a mix of coin found in sorting, from travel, given to me by various relatives and the largest part (silver and forex already removed) bought from Portland Mint.

Popped open a few rolls of Canadian pennies I managed to pick up. Spotted a 10 Euro cent.

Was able to find another 5 silver coins from my forex sorting and looking through coins I'd previously put in flips but not id'd. Best coin found appears to be a 1911 Chinese Empire Silver Dollar worth much more as a collectable than melt - maybe hundred of dollars.

As a direct result of this sort, I was able to hand over a dollar worth of UAE coin and over 10 UK pounds off to speakers at church this weekend who live in those countries. Repatriate coins and help the cause in a small way.

Dumped the 1K in dimes and found two world coins in the reject. Makes me wonder. Asked for anything odd when turning in coin machine receipts and got to paw through their bag of oddities. Picked up a lot of large dollars, $4 US for $4 Canadian, a 50% silver dime for face, a $200 and a $100 silver coins and a strange toonie that made a very different sound when dropped kn the counter. Bank teller thought it was fake and almost refused to sell it too me, which made me want it more.

Later I visited a LCS where I showed it to a knowledgable customer. He turned out to be a retired coin dealer who id'd that Twoonie as a Silver one from a 1997!proof set. It's Sterling silver with. 24k Gold plated center and runs $16 on ebay (however this one is circulated, which is pretty unusual). Happy day.

So you got them at a bank? Someone spent them at face value and you were able to purchase them at face value from the bank? Is it common for a bank to have something like this?

Thanks for the info.
