Wednesday's box of halves.......skunk.....

I saw someone who is buying 1982 and 1983 quarters (AU and up), so I thought I'd get some quarters to check.

Got $300 in BWR's.

Silver 0
Canada 0
1976- 12
1982- 12
1983- 19
1985-S impaired proof (not silver)

By the way, I do NOT expect to find any silver whatsoever when going through quarter rolls. With halves I have higher expectations.

None of the coins I found was AU or higher. Oh well, chalk it up as a learning experience...

Friday's box of halves yielded....... 1 x 63 , 1 x 68 and 1 x 69!!!

But while I was dumping, the guy ahead of me had a baggie full of cents......tons of rejects.....I grabbed them once he walked away......all of them were 1943 steelies!!! I got around 20 of them!!!

Are you saying these steelies were in the reject chute of the coin counting machine? 20 is fantastic!

I think one or two were stuck to the magnet in the hopper but......yep......they were all rejected. Thanks! I was stoked at the find and couldn't believe he walked away......

Wednesday's box of halves yielded........1 x 64 , 1 x 66, and 1 x 68!!!

I got 340 dollars from WF and they were all NIFC years 2000 to 2017 both d and p mintmarks. Very strange and they said that someone brought them in.

The years 2000 and 2001 aren't worth saving IMHO, but 2002 and later are better. I remember a few times when I got halves (probably 2006-2008ish) and some of the rolls were all 2001's. And these were customer wrapped rolls. The 2001's often come very sharply struck with tons of lustre. I think it is the Kennedy half version of an 1881-S Morgan dollar. But they are so common that I wouldn't save them in any condition, unless I was fully prepared to save them for at least 20 years or so.

As of now I'm just spending them.

2000 AND 2001 were made for circulation. 2002 is the first year for NIFC.

2002 and beyond typically have mintages of only about 2-3 million, so they might be worth saving.

Saabman: It appears that you have found 18 silver halves in 6 boxes, or three per box. That's very good. I was probably getting about one per box over the last few years.

@ Recylcersteve: This has been a good streak, for sure...........I'm having fun going through these boxes and hopefully it will continue!!!
