Got a 1945 1/4 Rupee in my Loomis roll of cents tonight. Looking it up, apparently it is 0.500 silver, so half of 2.9 grams is 1.45 grams silver for a whopping $1.54 worth of silver. Drinks for everyone!

Nice little score at a local bank today. Stopped in a branch at my local grocery store while shopping to see if they had anything old or interesting. Teller says she has some halfs. Coin counter was out of service for 2 or 3 days and a customer had some halfs to get rid of so they bought them. $20.00 worth so I bought them all. 1-1964 and 9-40 pct. Great score for such a small amount.

That's not luck; it's perseverance. Being in the right place at the right time.

Hey Saabman, are you talking about $500 boxes of halves? If so, how in the world are you able to come across so many halves? I’m assuming you absolutely must live in a large metro area.

Finally, do you keep records of how many halves you’ve gone through over the years and the results they yielded over any significant length of time? I’d love to see the results!

Yes, they are $500 boxes of halves. I have a pick up bank and they are kind enough to order me 3 boxes of halves each week and allow me to pick up 1 box per visit. I live in East TN and while we are growing.....rapidly.....I still wouldn't call it a large metro area. That is Nashville and I am closer to Knoxville. I used to keep track of number of halves searched and number of halves found, but as time wore on, it got cumbersome. And I found that it was the hunt not the results that I enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, I get totally frustrated with long skunk streaks but finding just one shiny brings me a lot of joy.

Wednesday's box of halves was yucky! Almost all newbies........ None of the good stuff in this one.....skunk.....

Two days ago I stopped at 4 banks and none of them had any halves at all. But one did have 8 Eisenhower dollars which I bought. Nice coins - XF condition
