HIGHLIGHTS OF June's SILVER SEARCHING:
June half searching was about $50000 more than May, the highest amount of half searching all year. However, production of SILVER halves was 17% less than May. $201,051.50 halves were searched, and only 846 SILVER halves were found. 2.10 SILVER halves per box on average were found. Also, of the 438 half boxes searched, 222 of them were SKUNKS!! War Nicks found (54) was only two more than in April (the lowest found in any month in the past 2 years); there were 410 SILVER dimes found (33 more than in May); and 20 SILVER quarters were discovered in the wild. CardsNCoins had the best $500 box in June with only 24 SILVER halves. However, AGCoinHunter found 73 SILVERs in a $1000 bag in June. CardNCoins found 7 SILVER dimes out of a $250 box of dimes, the most for June. appjoe, rainsonme, Locutus, and ZigMeister each found 3 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels.
On the leadership boards: Locutus found the most SILVER halves (211), beating out AGCoinHunter who had 144. CardsNCoins found 128 SILVER dimes and Heartkill was second with 118 of them. cwgii were the best at finding War Nicks, finding 12 during June, and adamsp27 found 12 of them too.
Other highlights are as follows:
6/1 - appjoe gets 3 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels.
6/3 - Locutus finds 3 War Nicks in a box of nickels.
6/10 - AGCoinHunter finds 45 SILVER halves in a $1000 bag.
6/11 - Locutus finds his first Barber half, a well worn 1905.
6/14 - hirbonzig finds a 1908-O Barber half in some CWRs.
6/16 - beauanderos gets a 1925 California commemorative half in a box of halves.
6/17 - CardNCoins gets 24 SILVER halves in a box, the best for the month of June.
6/19 - AGCoinHunter bags 73 SILVER halves from a $1000 bag of halves.
6/22 - Heartkill grabs 104 SILVER Roosevelt dimes from $235 of CWRs - Nice!!!
6/23 - CardsNCoins finds 6 SILVER dimes in a box of dimes.
6/29 - CardsNCoins finds 3 SILVER quarters in a box of quarters.
6/30 - CardsNCoins finds 7 SILVER dimes in a box of dimes.
6/30 - Chief finds an 1893 Columbian half in a box of halves.

It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2011 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2011 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.
