HIGHLIGHTS OF July's SILVER SEARCHING:
July half searching was about $30000 more than June, the highest amount of half searching all year. In addition, production of SILVER halves was the best for 2011, 64% more than June. $230,870.50 halves were searched, and 1387 SILVER halves were found. 3.00 SILVER halves per box on average were found. Also, of the 438 half boxes searched, 222 of them were SKUNKS!! War Nicks found (42) was 12 less than in June and this was the lowest found in any month in the past 2 years; there were 290 SILVER dimes found (120 less than in June); and 9 SILVER quarters were discovered in the wild. db23 had the best $500 box in July with 34 SILVER halves. However, AGCoinHunter found 65 SILVERs in a $1000 bag in July. CardNCoins found an outstanding 32 SILVER dimes out of a $250 box of dimes, the most for July. rainsonme found 4 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels, the best box for July.
On the leadership boards: db23 found the most SILVER halves (353), far exceeding Locutus who had 189. CardsNCoins found 140 SILVER dimes and db23 was a distant second with 30 of them. appjoe were the best at finding War Nicks, finding 10 during July, just nipping rainsonme who had 9.
Other highlights are as follows:
7/2 - BamaJoe finds his first 1970 40%er in a box of halves.
7/3 - Locutus sets a record 44 SKUNK half boxes in a row - Yuck!!
7/6 - db23 finds a 1908 Barber half in a box of halves.
7/15 - db23 finds an 1893 Columbian Expo half in a box of halves and then finds an 1892 Columbian Expo half in another box of halves.
7/16 - rainsonme gets 4 War Nicks in a box of nickles.
7/25 - db23 finds 34 SILVER halves in a box, the best box in July.
7/30 - AGCoinHunter finds 65 SILVER halves in a $1000 bag of halves.
7/31 - CardsNCoins finds 3 spectacular boxes of dimes containing 31, 24, and 32 SILVER dimes. WOW!!

It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2011 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2011 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.

HIGHLIGHTS OF July's SILVER SEARCHING:
July half searching was about $30000 more than June, the highest amount of half searching all year. In addition, production of SILVER halves was the best for 2011, 64% more than June. $230,870.50 halves were searched, and 1387 SILVER halves were found. 3.00 SILVER halves per box on average were found. Also, of the 438 half boxes searched, 222 of them were SKUNKS!! War Nicks found (42) was 12 less than in June and this was the lowest found in any month in the past 2 years; there were 290 SILVER dimes found (120 less than in June); and 9 SILVER quarters were discovered in the wild. db23 had the best $500 box in July with 34 SILVER halves. However, AGCoinHunter found 65 SILVERs in a $1000 bag in July. CardNCoins found an outstanding 32 SILVER dimes out of a $250 box of dimes, the most for July. rainsonme found 4 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels, the best box for July.
On the leadership boards: db23 found the most SILVER halves (353), far exceeding Locutus who had 189. CardsNCoins found 140 SILVER dimes and db23 was a distant second with 30 of them. appjoe were the best at finding War Nicks, finding 10 during July, just nipping rainsonme who had 9.
Other highlights are as follows:
7/2 - BamaJoe finds his first 1970 40%er in a box of halves.
7/3 - Locutus sets a record 44 SKUNK half boxes in a row - Yuck!!
7/6 - db23 finds a 1908 Barber half in a box of halves.
7/15 - db23 finds an 1893 Columbian Expo half in a box of halves and then finds an 1892 Columbian Expo half in another box of halves.
7/16 - rainsonme gets 4 War Nicks in a box of nickles.
7/25 - db23 finds 34 SILVER halves in a box, the best box in July.
7/30 - AGCoinHunter finds 65 SILVER halves in a $1000 bag of halves.
7/31 - CardsNCoins finds 3 spectacular boxes of dimes containing 31, 24, and 32 SILVER dimes. WOW!!

It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2011 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2011 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.
