Speaking of metal along the roadway.

A few years back we were working on some railroad trac right next to a busy road with a rough railroad crossing in it. You can not believe how much stuff fell from vehicles in a days time. A lot of metal, a lot of tools. If you know where there is a rough spot in a highway, that is where you look for treasures.

Excellent observation as I can attest!

Also, any change in velocity, faster-slower, up-down, left-right action leads to dislodged metal.
Pedal to the metal.

CrazyTom's equation; More Traffic + More Miles = More Metal
