Speakers

Postby OtusLotus » Sun Feb 26, 2012 12:02 am

So I found two speakers the other day and brought them home.

Is there anything of value in them? Are the magnets worth anything?

Do I need to/can I take the magnets off and scrap the metal around it? Is it worth it?

I read that post before....

Theses speakers are completely worthless.... they are 100% damaged, and no one would want to buy them..

Just wondering if there was any scrap value in the magnets, metal, etc?

People making parking lot cleaners like the magnets to pickup stuff, I take a 55gal Barrel every few weeks to the scrap yard. They take them no problem. Some of the baskets are cast AL, I will sometimes break them off, but it is not really worth the time to me.

Magnet prices have gone up, being kind of a rare earth thing, but they are not worth much, barely worth it. I've tried tearing apart old speakers and have bad luck trying to get to the magnet.
