A few years ago, my wife bought a car and ordered the gold plated insignia as an upgrade. With all the talk about computer gold I started to wonder if those car badges are really gold plated. Any one know? And would they be worth saving off cars headed to salvage.

It's probably worth selling as an insignia, e-bay or some car forum. I doubt it's actual gold.

Most items with gold electroplated and gold leaf have next to zero value as precious metal scrap. It's such a tiny quantity that it's not cost effective to process, just like with silver plated items.
