simple wire stripper for tv degaussing coils?

I found a bunch of links on the web describing various types of wire strippers, e.g.

Most of them are pretty expensive. Currently I am only stripping tv degaussing coils and doing it by hand which is pain in the neck. I was wondering if any of you used any of these wire stripper machines for either degaussing coils or regular insulated wire (e.g. various power cords)? Are they worth it?

Stripping these by hand is not as difficult as stripping many other types of wire.

A very sharp adjustable utility knife is ideal. Do a very shallow cut along the length of the entire coil and you can pull the wire out in one piece. Then just clip the ends where it comes through the insulation.

The trick is to do a shallow cut; if you cut too deeply the blade will almost always snag on the wires underneath, which is dangerous because it dulls the knife and makes one use too much force to conpensate.

Alternatively you could cut the coil and then run it through a bought or homemade manual stripper, but most stripping machines are only good for solid wire such as house wire and don't work well with power cords or wire below a certain gauge. Degaussing coils will probably snag when passing through them.

Some degaussing coils are quite thick. If you harvest them from old CRT monitors they should be quite thick. Before I stopped harvesting those degaussing coils, I would bring the thick ones to my yard on a regular basis. They would accept them from me at copper 2 price, because they had a stripping machine like you linked to. They would just run my whole box of degaussing coils through in, im guessing minutes. Maybe you could talk to your yard manager. The sad truth is, however, that most yards aren't that nice. Before that, at another yard, I would cut them like Dr. Cadmium said. Buying one of those strippers would be a huge investment, and if you plan on stripping thousands of these things per month, then it would be worth it.
