I have not seen anyone other than Tucson post about
''brush and bulky'' . where the city picks up a neighborhoods worth of junk.

story of the day.

yesterday I came across a streetside pile. there was a tv sitting there that had the plastic taken off. with the copper cone just sitting there. of course I pulled over. before I could get it off a gent on a bike pulled up and asked 'anything good'./ he took a flat screen monitor. then a truck of scrap went by , gave me the evil eye, turned around and went to the next pile. I got the next tv apart, picked up a xmas tree ,a string of lights, a cable box, the cord from a coffee pot . when I got ready to pull away. there was a woman on the left and her partner on the right, going through the blue recycle bins pulling out cans etc.

so 4 scrappers working the same street at the same time. too much competition. !!!!!

all that , when I really was headed to a gents to get his washer and dryer. so I barely had room for them.

last 3-4 dryers have been busts on coins trapped in them. this one gave up a penny, nickel and dime.
also , it was assembled differently. the motor actually came out easy. but alas, it is aluminum winding. not copper.

Slow on this side of town still, can leave steel item in alley for a few days now before it gets taken. As for the coffee pot I still take them, printers too I cut the cord and put the rest in with the shred. I don't take TV's apart at the curb as people get mad due to the jerk scrappers who smash them and grab the goods leaving behind a mess. And its funny how other scrappers interact when they meet up, I have had looks like they were going to kill me as I was in there area! LOL

yes, I am friendly towards a couple and would like to kill a couple. that took over places I did for years.
part of having to disassemble the tv was that there was no room for the whole thing. I '
give' normas the plastic back shell from the tvs I take elsewhere [closest dumpster] to take apart.

refridgerator on thus. old, rusty, very surprised when gas came out of the sealed unit. funny how differentlty things are made, this one had fiberglass insulation, that was wrapped in heavy plastic, around the freezer,. which was an aluminum box.. loose fg around the cooler. the fridge part was actualy a box that could be removed. except for the very rusty screws.
the only thing missing was the cord. lol.
so, the doors and shell weighed 180 lb at 48/t
took the alum , wire, racks and compressor home. for later turn in on a '
bonus'' day.

never have tried to sell pallets to the pallet brokers. just to normas as they use them under the bags of glass. they do not have to be the standard size, and can have broken boards.

There is a guy around me that was making wine racks out of pallets and selling them for $70. He couldn't find pallets quick enough to keep up with orders. The design was simple and I'm sure anyone could make them or you could sell them to someone who makes them.

rains when it pours....today I was picking up bottles at my vfw and a gent pulls in with a washing machine in his truck. said he tried to give it away on the street , someone stopped and took the cord , the door and left it. then the post gave me a sink that had rusted out.
shell, counter weights and sink, 100 lbs, at 48/t.

I get to work on the drum at home , trying to remove the 'axel' , cut up the motor windings.
