21 lbs. #2 insulated wire $.40 lb. (paid for 25% recovery when normally its 50%) WTF
32 lbs. Clean Sheet Aluminum $.48 lb.
160 lbs. Dirty Aluminum $.23 lb.
29 lbs. sheet iron (should have gone as dirty stainless which would have been $.15 a pound with bonus) $.0675 lb.
Total$83.22
All prices had the +$.10 lb. $10 ton on steel bonus this trip so an extra $27.65 this trip

180 pounds folding chairs that a church set out by the side of the road, some busted, some rusted but for free, sure! $.0825 a pound clean sheet iron, so $14.85 total

Prices for some items coming way down. The guy at the scrap yard blamed it on China not accepting items that they used to take.
Small motors 45# 0.15 lb. $6.75
#2 Insulated wire 8# 0.37 lb. $2.96
Stainless steel 24# 0.25 lb. $6.00
Aluminum 33# 0.35 lb. $11.55
#1 Insulated wire 18# 1.00 lb. $18.00
Aluminum cans 1# 1.00 lb. $1.00
Aluminum (pool skimmer pole) 3# 1.00 lb. $3.00
Round down (their mistake) -$0.26
TOTAL FOR ABOVE 132# $49.00
Just got a nice wire stripper made by TNT Tooling for about $50. Spent over an hour stripping #2 insulated wire (the size of an electrical cord), but in this case it wasn't worth the time. Some of the other wire I wanted to strip (#1 insulated) was so thick that it wouldn't fit into even the largest hole of the TNT Tooling device. Oh well- learning experience. When I find the right wire and convert it to bare bright I'll be a happy camper.
Hopefully this tool won't be like a Ryedale that sits and gathers dust...

Yep prices on insulated wire are bad down here, If so make sure you get a business license in order to sell that stripped wire as yards around here will not buy it without one... good price on the alum skimmer pole though our aluminum prices are way bad still

On the positive side, aluminum is spiking ferociously. You might want to consider turning your aluminum into cash soon. Aluminum was just below 90 cents earlier this month and is currently $1.14, the highest it has been since Spring 2011 (~7 years). Hopefully the scrap yards have ratcheted up their buy prices.

Extruded $.58 - $.68 lb.
Clean sheet alum $.38 - $.48 lb.I just looked back at prices I got in 2011
$.40 Dirty Alum
$.65 Cast Alum
$.70 Sheet Alum
$.75 Ext alum

Yep I figured that, and it makes sense as the prices I got in 2011 for scrap were some of the highest.....

What types of wires are you separating to get 40% & 50%? Yards around here are starting to do recovery rate% when before all was #2 insulated at same price

insulated 50% - Power cords, Extention cords , 16 gauge or so , I throw in bigger stuff that I don't want to strip etc. or don't have a lot of.
Insulated 40% - i get a lot of computers so its mostly wire from them. Ribbon computer Wire, fan wire, power supply wire, any data or phone wire will go in there as well. any thing 18 Gauge and smaller.
