a homeless gent gave me info on one of our recycling centers today.
i go there for my metal but never really thought of taking my cans there.
they pay 85 for cans if they aARE NOT CRUSHED. and 40 for crushed. turns out too many folks were putting stuff in them.

kind of makes crushing ///saving space , a crime

I got $.32/pound today in Connecticut. We do have the 5 cent deposit - so only crushed cans go to the scrap yard

255 lbs of cans @ .47 a lb. I could of gotten 50 cents at another place but the 47 cents yard was closer and a trustworthy scrap yard. Houston Tx area.. A pretty big waste of time collecting these items. On the happy side of things, I was glad to finally tidy up the garage and back yard.

Are you saying you had 255 lbs. of cans just laying around on your property? If I had more than, say, 20-30 pounds, neatly put into a trash can, my wife would be all over me.

Here in the middle of the Midwest, we get the princely sum of $0.42.

I just can't get excited about this rate of payment.

A lowly 0.30/lb in my corner of SE Wisconsin, maybe I’ll wait until earth day and get an extra nickel.
