Thought this would be my last load for the year as it has been slow, but our dryer went out (17 years old!) So going to get a new washer and dryer. At least I'll get back .095 a pound on the old ones

Wow, you are getting .74 lbs for alum! Only .55 lbs here in GA

here in tucson, there is a price war. the lowball is 55. most are 61--63. while the place i go , is 73. that is a huge spread of .18

Believe me I know. I am just getting started, and I am proud of my$35.50 so far. I have coworkers saving cans for me, so my yields will hopefully be better. I flip my fiat from scrapping into pennies to sort for Cu.

Nah, Toyotas are like plastic bottles and newspapers; a lot of places will take them, but they aren't worth anything.

Here is a MLK day run to the scrap yard.

60 lbs sheet iron @ $235 ton, $7.11
7 lbs alum sheet clean @ $0.50, $3.50
3 lbs cast alum @ $0.50, $1.50
26 lbs alum cans @ $0.50, $13.00
4 lbs Cu/Al radiator @ $1.32, $5.28
6 lbs #2 Cu @ $2.65, $15.90
9 lbs yellow brass @ $1.80, $16.20
7 lbs insulated wire @ $0.65, $4.55 This was low grade Christmas lights and computer wire (mouse and keyboard cords)
5 lbs insulated wire @ $1.10, $5.50 This was appliance cords etc.
2 lbs motor cores @ $0.23, $0.46
Grand total 129 lbs, $73.00 :D

Since I am an engineer I dismantle everything into components before trashing to "see how it works." Sometimes even my daughters have some interest.
The stuff above came from a Haier dehumidifer, a very old hedge trimmer my FIL found on road (I used for about 8 years), weed eater, water softener valve and other plumbing fixtures and cords from anything thrown away after dismantling of course.

Fun stuff, and I got enough seed money for three more boxes of pennies.

After previewing I notice I can not get the columns to line up. Oh well. I suppose I might be able to use the list but too lazy to try.

I forgot to mention in the previous post. Do NOT buy a Haier dehumidifer. Spent around $175 and it lasted one summer in our basement. I then did some research online and basically found out that they are junk. I should have done the research first. The thing still acted like it worked but did not remove the humidity. I suspect the compressor or radiator had a leak and all the refrigerant leaked out. I got about $6.00 scrap value for it. I saved the swirl cage, motor and housing to make a little blower fan for the garage.
