I hauled in a yard waste bag full of cans, some old aluminum windows frames, a couple of old electric motors (17lbs each), and a few pounds each of brass and stainless yesterday. I don't bother weighing it all, but I got $90 for it, which is some good beer money. Time to start piling it up again!

This week 250 lbs of steel at 10ยข/lb for $25 total. They seem to have one price for steel
and not care about any glass or plastic on it.

Most was from the dishwasher I replaced last fall and the stove my immediate neighbor
was getting rid of a few weeks back. That dishwasher had a _lot_ of metal in it! (I think
it was older than me. ^_-)

Took 2 trips (by shopping cart, no vehicle), on the 2nd trip the bin they keep near the
front for small loads of steel was full so they told me to take the second load around
back where larger loads are dropped off. Of course there is no employee back there
to give directions or signage so I had to rely on other customers to tell me where to
toss the stuff. These guys run a pretty big operation for the tiny space they fit it into
but since they are closest that's where I go. Though if I was using a vehicle I'd
probably look for some place with a drive through scale rather than this goofy
situation where people have to back into an enclosed space to be weighed, drive
around back to unload, then come back to weigh out. At least at that point the
shopping cart becomes an advantage over a truck because it's more manuverable.
The space is literaly so tight you wouldn't be able to use a trailer on a vehicle!

Sometimes they have me weigh out after unloading, sometimes they just
assume a weight for the cart. Hard to know what I'm supposed to do when it
changes every time and it's to damn noisy to hear anyone.

Still have a little bit of steel and I'm getting close to a full bag of Aluminum cans
to go. The shell from the dishwasher is bigger than the cart so I'll have to put it
over top and find a way to tie it down.
