Whole TV? .10 a pound? I think it would be better to scrap tv's and monitors this way even at .10 a pound vs breaking them down and finding a place to take the tubes!

the whole cardboard thing is a bummer. gf's coworker breaks down the flower boxes and even ties them up for me. 600 pounds , .02 ,,,,, 12.00 hardly worth it. but just makes me cry to throw it in the citys recycle bin.

a few cans, a few glass bottles and a few plastic bottles. Got $2.05 for our youth group. Hey, it would have been better than $0.

This is my first post on this forum, but have been lurking here once in a while. It is a great forum. "birds of a feather flock together".

About every three months I scrap "sorted office paper", yesterday I sold $50.25 worth. The price was down a little, but room for storage is a problem so I had to sell. 1,340 pounds @ $3.75 per hundred pounds. I am a offset pressman, and save all spoils, overruns that come off the presses. And all the scrap at the cutter. It adds up pretty quickly.
I never pass up even the smallest item that can be recycled. You name it, and I have a box, 5 gallon bucket or barrel it goes into.
I will post some pictures one day soon of some scrap litho film that was given to me just to haul off. It ended up being over a $6000.00 gift I recently got 2 more skids of film from the same place. That will end up being another nice score.
If you watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves.

Welcome, Agsearcher. Glad to have you as a part of the forum.

We are now officially "all ears" about litho film and how to obtain it in our own areas. Please tell us how you get it and recycle it.

Did I goof? A couple of days ago I posted about some paper I sold. I posted in this forum. Was a that a no no, and it was deleted. I can not find it anywhere. I guess I should have started a completely different thread. Feeling my way around this board, a great board by the way. Help me out, did I break a rule by posting in the wrong place, and it was deleted. Advice please.
I really like this forum. I scrap any thing that can be recycled, no matter how small or large. I have a bucket, box or barrel for everything. A lead weight, a lonely aluminum can, a 3 inch piece of scrap copper wire...never to proud to pick it up.
I will sum this board up this way as i see it....."Birds of a feather flock together".

I work in the copying/printing industry. I have often wondered about trying to save all the office paper I generate myself from running test copies or what I find in the trash at the customer's site. Like your situation, it would add up quickly. The problem is I don't know of a company in my area that buys paper.
I look forward to see your pics of the litho.

While I don't really post on this thread, I will be posting a fairly good one in the next few days. At work we've been tearing out old boiler lines from this country club. All copper lines with heavy brass shut-offs. Copper line sizes ranging from 5/8" up to 2 1/2" of the old thick walled copper. Not the new super thin type, hehe. Hundreds of feet of it. Usually we keep all the "good" copper from the jobs and split 50/50, but this time we are doing a 7-way split with fellow employees. Plenty to go around.

Not being a faithful scrapper, I never cease to be amazed at how much they pay me when I do scrap. This morning I took in a 5 gal pail of cut-off aluminum fence scrap, a dozen or so aluminum fence stakes, and two stainless pool ladders. Actually, one was a ladder and the other just a handrail. Altogether it was not a lot of metal. $24

8-)

We got the rest of the copper removed today. Putting it on a trailer tomorrow for the scrap yard next week. I'll take a picture tomorrow if I remember, hehe. Both of my jobs treat me very well. This will be in addition to our Christmas bonus. I can't, and don't complain. It will be real nice for the guys though. That's why we decided on the equal seven way split.

We finished the job on Friday, and scrapped it today. Here's a picture, and not a very good one, I took with my phone Saturday after we loaded a trailer.

Image

Totals:
ACR's 330lbs @ $1.40 $462.00
#2 Cu 1562 lbs @ $2.85 $4451.70
Yellow Brass 124lbs @ $1.85 $229.40
#1 Ins Cu 85% 42lbs @ $2.20 $95.40
#1 Ins Cu 75% 14lbs @ $1.80 $25.20

Total: $5260.70

We did an even seven-way split on this trip. Basically $751 each. Not great, but like I said before, that will help out the guys pretty well. Add it on top of their Christmas bonuses, and they are sittin' pretty, hehe.

Oh man!

You shoulda cut the soldered ends off.

Anyway $2.85 seems like a great price for #2 Cu.

WAY too many joints to cut. The price difference here is only 15¢ between #1 and #2. Plus around here, in order to be considered #1, it must be damn near new looking. There was some #1, but since we were over 1000lbs with the #2, it paid more than having less than 100lbs of #1. We made out better this way. You can only see one maybe two #1 pieces in the picture according to the yard. And I'm not bad mouthing the yard, the are good guys.
