My last batch paid 35 cents a pound, I even tossed in a lead battery cable clamp with a steel nut and bolt and they weighed it all the same.

Got two rides in during the week plus the ever faithful weekend run;

2 lb 1 oz aluminum cans
9 oz aluminum
8 oz brass
2 lb 2 oz lead wheel weights
11 oz copper wire
10 lb 7 oz steel
14 zinc pennies

Approximate value over $3.00

I've also been finding a lot of steel CO2 propellant bulbs like you would use in a pellet gun, particularly on my Sunday route. Why am I thinking there is some punk getting sick jollies shooting out windows?

Maybe 10 lbs. or more.

A bit of brass, too. Most of the brass is from the metal detector.

Today I found an excellent 3/8 ratchet, extension, and 13mm socket made by Mastercraft.

Brass...finding more and more metal detecting...what's the easiest way to determine brass. The other day at 6 inches I found the mouth piece to some type of horn...you know...the part you stick your lips up to...from all the horns I've seen, they're all brass..right...?

Then yesterday I found what looks like the top round part of a post on a brass bed...very heavy. Not magnetic at all.

Please help me with my possible brass finds.

Work is getting in the way again but today I found another license plate with a good tag. Called Mesa PD and they came out to the house to pick it up. Got a chance to ask Officer Friendly about the propellent cartridges I've been finding.

He said that they were either for pellet or paint ball guns (I didn't think of the paint ball guns). I asked if there was a spate of windows being shot out and he said no and in fact he said they also see the cartridges all over the place.

As a bonus I hit three banks with my back pack and got one silver Roosevelt. Tomorrow I'll post totals after the morning ride, work permitting!

Well, since I was not Raptured (or ruptured) I helped keep God's earth green and my pockets green, which I then convert to copper and silver coins.

Three rides produced the following,

1 lb of heavy gauge braided copper cable, clean with no insulation

5 oz brass

1 lb 15 oz pop cans

15 oz lead wheel weights

12 lb 4 oz steel

5 oz aluminum

4 zinc pennies

1 golf ball

I got another five CO2 cartridges

My Saturday bank milk route also got me another silver Roosevelt.

Hit one Wells Fargo on today's ride, picked up 45 dollars in dimes and got another silver Roosevelt.

Found 3 more CO2 cartridges on a different route. These had threads on the tapered edge and one had "Crossman" printed on it so I'm sure that at least that one was intended for pellets. Most of the others I find don't have threads on the neck, just the pin hole in the end from being pierced. I come from the days of pump BB guns and lately prefer higher calibers.

Another said "Genuine Innovations" and had a website, checked it out and it is for inflating bicycle tires! It also said to please recycle. So I did. Apparently the Yuppies in spandex that use them are above it all......

It also said not to leave it in a hot car above 120 degrees due to risk of explosion. Good luck, this is Arizona. If you see a car with blown out windows and a bike on the rack you'll know it's a Yuppie.

Had enough scrap between work and the bike to take it in, got a little over 50 bucks.

The lead wheel weights are up to 41 cents a pound X 7 pounds = $2.87
Had ten pounds of pop cans for $7.30

Alchemy is alive and well since I converted this junk, found for free, into a nice one ounce silver Eagle.

Stopped to pick up a pile of aluminum cans(12) and also found a gallon ziplock bag full of cable tv connectors 20' away. These connectors are non-magnetic and seem to have a small amout of plastic in them as well. Am I right to assume that these connectors are aluminum?

I have found some of those around and toss them in the aluminum pile. If you have a lot just take 'em in when you take the other stuff and see what the yard says, then let us know! I would bet aluminum since those cables are often out in the weather on the side of a house, pumping in useless drivel to the brain dead within. The male parts of the cable appear to be stainless.

Wasn't riding bike but I spied a smashed evaporative cooler motor on the side of the road and snatched it up.
