Scrap Pick Up Truck - what kinda price?

I'm fairly familiar with scrap, but I don't want to jump into this one yet without making sure I can turn a profit. I can pick up an '89 Nissan (non running - blown head gasket) for $400. I've called numerous yards in the area and none can seem to give me a quote over the phone. Is this worth buying? Last I checked steel was around $200 per ton here. I'm sure I can get some aluminum off the motor and the radiator, yank some wiring, cut the cats if there are any, etc. - I just don't want to get into this to only make $50...

To much. If the cats are there and you get top dollor for them then you might break even.
$200 would be where I was at.

That's what I'm thinking, $200 tops. I'm gonna pass on this unless they want to come down on price. Thanks guys for the advice.

If your willing to replace the blown head gasket, small pickups can go for $1000. There is a need for small pickups, either as cheap trash trucks, or as a base for being modified (depending on the body shape).

Cesariojpn is right, if the body is straight I know several car dealers that would buy it at that price.
