How to begin gold recovery?

Postby fb101 » Fri Dec 30, 2011 8:33 pm

I'm considering taking up gold recovery and looked around for some books on how to actually do it in vain.
I'd mainly pulling from circuit boards, old processors, etc.
Anybody know how to get this started up and what is involved?

Yes, I'm very familiar. It's not worth it small scale. Other than your own personal satisfaction, you'll gain very little.

Sell your scrap on e-bay, boardsort. Then use the cash to buy gold.

I've been all over the goldrefiningforum and watched all of lazersteve's videos that are available to view online. I agree with Market Harmony. No profit in it unless you are into it big time. Too much time spent and too much cost unless you have a lot of scrap to process. I would consider the deplating route if I felt confident that I could find at least 100 lbs of gold plate every month or so. Until then, I will leave it to those with more time on their hands than I have.

I deal in a fair amount of e-scrap, and agree with what's been posted already - refining your own gold is not worth the trouble. It's expensive, extremely labor intensive, dangerous and often illegal.
