#2 plastic bottles

Postby hobo finds » Thu Jan 19, 2012 11:55 am

I found a place by me that is buying #2 plastic bottles looks like they are paying .05 a pound for them. This is a different yard than the one that is buying #1 plastic bottles and glass. Looks like more places may be willing to expand into plastic... I'll start saving mine and will see how it works!

Found a place that will buy cardboard and paper but prices are not good...
.0125 lb cardboard
.0075 lb newspaper
.01 lb office paper

So a whole truck load would only get me $5.00 to $7.00 not worth it yet, also need space to store it up! Wife not too fond of the metal I have stored she would just love piles of paper! LOL

Look at the bottom of any plastic bottle. There is a small triangle with a number in it. That number is the type of plastic.

I'll have to check and see if I can find anyone buying plastic close to me. I didn't think it would EVER happen, especially at such good prices. Thanks for the heads-up.

Why do they pay so much more for cardboard? I thought that was a low grade of paper, with bright white copy paper being toward the high end. Shiny magazine paper I know is difficult to use because of so much treatment and ink.

The price for Waste cardboard is higher as less processing & it helps on restarts the Warehouser (?sp) mill in Springfield get lots of loads of bailed cardboard. A little white paper is not a big deal if you are making liner board a one ply brown paper that is made into the three ply board. :?:

No one buys plastic in Cincinnati, apparently. I called a yard and they acted like I was stupid for even asking, haha.

Plastic prices are better...

Several more places buying. 4 different places now!

#1 plastic range from .15 - .40 a pound (water btl, Gatorade, etc.)
#2 plastic range from .02 - .10 a pound (milk jugs, detergent bottles, etc.)

Other items
Glass Bottles and jars .04 lb
Cardboard .01 lb
Office paper .02 lb

Also these new places offer the best prices for alum cans .80 - .95 lb
