Selling a wrecked car

Postby messymessy » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:42 pm

Anybody had any luck selling a wrecked car on Ebay? How about Craigslist?

It's a 1999 Monte Carlo with relatively low miles on it (about 104,000) and I just know I can get more out of it than at the scrapyard. Front end smashed, engine still good, back end still good.

Any ideas?

An auto dismantler might be an idea.

What do you mean an auto dimantler? Like an auto junkyard or someplace like "U Wrench It"?

Thanks for the help.

Sell it as a parts car. Buyer has to haul it himself or no sale.

If you don't mind putting the wrenches to it, you can strip the core parts and sell them for core price and boost your total sale to a junk/scrap yard that way.

Starter, alternator, rack n pinion, transmission, catalytic converter wiring harness is usually appr 15 lbs or so of copper wire, ebay the other parts like steering wheel/column, headlights, seats, etc etc. Then take the shell, weight it with scrap or just junk the shell / remainder.

Depends on how much time you want to put in it or hold it waiting for parts sales.

Try searching for a Monte Carlo forum and see if there is a parts wanted and or a for sale section. Post what you have and see what happens.
