Stainless steel score, maybe?

Postby stonewallrabbitry » Thu Mar 28, 2013 9:01 pm

I was with my friend at the property his work owns that we hunt on, we were walking around looking for shed deer antlers. About ten yards from a four lane road I see somthing shiny sticking out of the ground. At first I thought it was a big piece of aluminum but quickly realized it was too heavy to be aluminum, I got it put of the ground and into my Jeep. It is six inches in diameter and 22 inches long, I have seen stuff that looks the same being hauled on flat bed tractor trailers but it was always long pieces. A magnet does not stick to it so I think it is stainless steel and very heavy, from a calculator online it is 176 pounds. Will a scrap yard take it or will they give me a hard time about how/where I got it?

I wish I knew someone that could use it for something instead of scrapping it, I have been trying to think of something I could use it for but no luck yet

Sell it to a local machine shop. You should be able to get a better deal than the scrap rate, and they'd get a better deal than the metal supply house.
