Lead Batteries

Will the small sealed lead batteries bring the same price as car batteries? Will most scrap yards accept sealed lead batteries? Thanks

Call ahead to be sure, if they buy by the pound, should be no problem.

One of my yards pays $1.50ea for small lead batteries, ATV batteries, and UPS batteries. They pay $3ea for car batteries. Unfortunately most yards in my area won't take them.

Many yards do not buy lead batteries. Some don't want to deal with the additional material type, hazards and associated regulations.

Some yards buy by the pound, others by the unit. The ones that buy by the pound will usually take any size sealed lead acid batteries and pay the same rate per pound. Note that steel-cased fork lift batteries usually pay lower amounts.

As mentioned, definitely call ahead.
