Anybody ever sell aluminum screen frames out of old house windows? Do you need to remove the screens from the frames or can you just haul them in as is?

I remove them.

What are the frames? Aluminum clip or extruded aluminum? Extruded aluminum always pays better, but the more I look at it, it just looks like thick sheet aluminum which was bent.

Yea MLC alum by me for the frames. if the screens are alum they put them in with dirty alum

There are two different types of screen frames. One looks like a sheet of AL that has been sent thru a series of rollers to form it into the frame member. These go as old sheet and are easy to spot once you have seen them. the other is extruded and is a solid piece of AL. Make sure you remove the diecast corner inserts or you will get docked on the extruded type.

My yard just pays a single price for all clean aluminum, whether its a lawn chair frame or cans or whatever - so long as there is no steel or die cast, etc. I've taken in a screen door frame and got .55 cents/lb same as cans, but had to be sure to remove all the steel screws, glass, and corner connectors.

My scrap yard pays around $0.50 /lb for AL and about $0.40 for cans... and they are really quick to say that something is dirty, and gladly pay you $0.20 for it.

I found aluminum exhaust vent grates like the type that go above grills in restaurant. They were at a used mart for 3 bucks a section, never used. I bought them to add to my scrap pile.
