I'm a newbie scrapper, took a few hundred pounds of iron before but never any aluminum, I know there is a minimum of 100 lbs of iron at my scrap yard but IDK if there is any requirements on aluminum, do you scrapper guys think it's worth it for me to save these cat food cans and scrap em? Know of any minimum weight requerments or anything? Also would I need to remove the label and clean each of these first? Any info appreciated :) thanks!

all metal is money. You need to check with your yard to see if you need to remove the labels. Should be $.50 a pound I would think.

I take my scrap aluminum cat food cans to the scrapper every 2 months when I take everything. I rinse them out and throw them in with my aluminum beverage cans. They take them like that (oh, I take the labels off.) Last time I got $0.60/pound. Aluminum is aluminum (for the most part) and cash is cash. Save 'em and cash 'em in friend.

Your cat probably eats the other cats food by the looks of him. He looks like a bully taking other kids lunches from them. Have you thought about putting him on a diet?

I save them. yes the labels have to be removed, at the place I take mine. due to the cash return value on the drink cans. the pet has to be separate. as they get paid at .50 vs the 1.00 al cans bring.

oh, and no lids. as they actually are a strange alloy. not al.

If you have to keep the lids separate, then just put them in a coffee can with the lid on and get paid steel price for them

The lids of these say "recyclable alluminum" right on them, is this referring only to the can then?

Check with your yard and see how they buy them. Should be aluminium find out where they want them

We just throw ours in the "old sheet & cast" box. I do not remove labels and the cats do a great job of cleaning out the cans themselves. And the lids are all AL too, toss them in!
