Can You Get Anything for Silver Plated Dinnerware?

Postby Recyclersteve » Thu Oct 16, 2025 12:37 am

I have a box of miscellaneous knives, forks and spoons.

There are no complete sets of anything and everything looks heavily used. Much is stamped “silver plate.” Some is stamped “stainless.” None is stamped .925.

Can you get anything for the very thin later of silver on top of these utensils?

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

Take them to the scrapyard. They should buy them as yellow brass (around two dollars a pound)
Buy rolls NOW while you still can!

I started buying them in my own business this year. I'm currently buying most silverplated items for $4.25/lb, and I'm paying $5.25/lb for forks and spoons.
