IS anybody selling scrap sterlng on ebay or to a refiner lately? Last time I listed some Silver was 23 or so and I remember the lot going for between 10 to 15% under actual melt value.I expect there will always be a discount to actual melt value, because the bidders have to refine the scrap....what im wondering is A. Is it better to just sell straight to a refiner, what with the ebay/paypal fees on top of the discount price, and B. is the discount still running between 10 and 15% off melt value? Lets assume were talking straight scrap here, cleaned up ex-weighted scrap, broken jewelry, worn odd flatware,no antique or collector value...

Just a thought. If it's clean, you might find a market with jewelry makers, who would just want to melt it down as-is and re-cast it, form it, etc.

New scrap lots come in all the time. Some clients actually use eBay to buy, accumulate, and then send a large lot of scrap to be sold. Depending on how much you send and the purity of the lot, then your payout will be in line with your numbers above. Feel free to check out the link in my signature

Market Harmony gets ALL of my scrap AG and AU. Fair and trustworthy I have no reservations about mailing large lots to be melted and paid.
