Old Aluminum shed; how much $$ for scrapping

I have an old aluminum shed in my back yard; it is in pretty bad shape; the front door is gone

I was thinking about tearing it down.

How much money would you think I would get for scrapping it?

I would say it is an average size one

I am interested hearing feedback on this as well. Where are the experts?

I'm not an expert, but I can say it will be very hard to estimate without some dimensions and a picture (or more detailed description) of the material.

You will need to make sure to remove any steel screws. Painted alum is .65 a pound steel is .09 by me. Dirty alum is only .35 so like I said remove all steel...

From memory a small shed (6x8) is about 70lbs when your purchase it crated. A large one, (12x14) is around 220lbs.

I think the paint kills the price too.

But if you need to get rid of it, someone will do it for free.

Nothing a little lighter fluid and a match to help strip it.......

I don't really mean to question your description, but are you sure it's aluminum? Every one I have scrapped out has been rusted out sheet steel.

Most are sheet steel, not aluminum. I have yet to find a back yard shed that was aluminum, although they should be out there.

I've seen aluminum sheet metal several times, they stopped using it mid eighties I think. It should not be painted, I have yet to see a painted one. It must be like the boxed greenhouses they sell now, but with thicker support.

I doubt you'll get terribly much for 8-10 sheets and support. A sheet is really light even at 10 foot

I would keep the sheets if they are in good condition, but thats just me.

A lot of big storage warehouses that store miller beer have painted/gooed aluminum roofing now that my mind started flickering.

The metal can become brittle in the overlap if older lower quailty sheets were used or to thin, if you step on the wronge place you can go through.
