8.8 tons of random railroad rail @ $220.000 per ton. $1950.00
Out of town job, small local yard. Bummer, that would have brought closer to 300 a ton at my regular yard.
Still, good enough!

Went to the yard today and the giant pile of steel was gone. I didn't think much of it untill I got paid got .06 a pound down 1 cent from last week. 470 pounds. I think now that they are low on steel that they keep the price low as they will not be shipping it out for awhile.

I am in Wisconsin and have been reading through here for a few months now. I scrap almost anything and am always buying. I am currently aggressively buying computer scrap, especially CPU's and memory. If anyone is interested in selling let me know and I will post my price sheet. I buy all parts and whole computers. I am also currently paying .15 lb for coaxial.

junior30king,
Go ahead and put up your prices. I scrap computers and am always looking for buyers.
Looking for prices on the following:
Whole hard drives
High grade PCB's
Gold edge memory
mixed whole power supplies
computer power cables unclipped
data/cat 5 type cable clipped/unclipped
Fiber CPU's/slot processors
Ceramic CPU
I just unloaded 5 tons of computer/server/networking gear off our truck today. Will start scrapping it next week.

I forgot the Pentium II slot $8.50 lb, usually the same price as gold memory and can be mixed together.
That price also reflects just the board, the aluminum and plastic removed.
I buy them whole as well but for a reduced price.
Power supplies .10 lb clipped
power supplies .15 lb unclipped

I also buy cell phones and complete towers. The price will vary depending on age and quantity. Usually around .10 lb which works out to approximately $2 - $3 per tower on average.
If you do a lot of computers then I am sure that I'm lower on my boards than what you usually get. I can do better on large quantities but will probably still fall short on high grade boards. Those seem to be the most competitive out there.

I had a fun load back in February. I had to fly out to Maryland and filled a 26' Budget truck top to bottom front to back. Approx. 1000 computers with the rest consisting of servers, printers etc., the best part was that the majority of the computers were 486 and Pentium Pro. The truck itself weighed a little under 12,000 pounds and I went over the scale at my local yard and weighed out at a little over 38,000 pounds. I felt kind of bad for the poor truck. Any one who has ever driven the hills in Pennsylvania will understand why. Felt like you were gonna flip right over but I made it home. As far as the boards how much would you need to buy all 6 gay lords?
