A coin collection buried for over 50 years is expected to bring in more than $100 million at auction, making it likely the most valuable ever sold. Known as the Traveller Collection, it includes coins from over 100 regions, spanning ancient to modern times, CNN reported last week.

Yikes! If you're going to bury something, tell a trusted family member where it is.

That's an incredible story! I would love to know how they found it....

The original collector has not been identified. What are the odds this is FDR's private stash?

The pair eventually settled in Europe, despite the dark shadow that Hitler’s Nazi party was casting over the continent. The collector must have felt the imminent threat, however, as the coins were packed carefully into cigar boxes that were then transferred into aluminum boxes and buried underground - where they remained for five decades.
