Still no luck on researching this. There has to be something....somewhere!!!

Starting with what I know. It may be obvious to all, but it hasn't been said yet.
1. The first image is exactly that of the Great Britain crowns of that era. Also used on gold coins like the sovereign.
2. The second image is of Queen Victoria, and matches that of the crowns for the end of her reign. But the lettering is WAY different than what would be on any British coin.
3. She died in January 1901, but tradition with British coins was to finish out the year without changing the monarch. So 1901 would be her last year on coins.

Questions:
What size is it? Same as a crown?
Looks like copper/bronze - is it?
Is it on a shoe?
Can I have it?

My first guess is it's a crown-like token, with lettering purposely changed so it will not be confused with a crown or considered a counterfeit. I have several sovereign-looking tokens that have the right basic designs, but major differences in the lettering...

Saint George lived over 1700 years ago. Quoted from his Wikipedia page: "The standard iconographic interpretation of the image icon is that the dragon represents both Satan (Rev. 12) and the Roman Empire."

But that doesn't help us figure out what you have there... it's just a cool story bro.

"Narciso" is Spanish for daffodil and is also a male first name; Gonzalez is a common Spanish surname and the name of a couple of locations; Villagarcia is a less common Spanish surname and is a 19th century location in Spain (there was a battle there in 1812).

Perhaps some sort of victory or peace medal? Don't know enough about UK and Spanish relations in the time period.

How is the coin aligned?

Size of a 1/2 sovereign or a quarter. Appears to be bronze but I am wishing for old tarnished dirty gold. The alignment is the same as our coins.

Yes...guy's name, Spanish town. Was place of battle against Great Britain.

Has a reeded edge.

I didn't know this but she was regent of Spain at the time of this date:

Maria Christina continued as regent until Alfonso XIII attained his majority in 1902; she is the "Her Majesty the Queen Regent of Spain" named as concluding in the Treaty of Paris (1898) with the United States of America, ending the Spanish-American War.

Here's the actual sovereign image with Victoria.

Clearly a fake. Part of the horses back and also the back of St.Georges neck is missing. And, the queen's necklace just jumps out at you.

The "9" is different.

Did Great Britain own any Spanish speaking areas at that time?

Let's lay them side by side, howzabout. The differences are a little easier to spot this way.

Also, do you think this guy might be part of the story? He was the founder of a newspaper. Lived 1859-1903.
