Additional news:

Under HB 1662, which once enacted will be known as the "Anti-Hoarding of Philippine Legal Tender Coins Act of 2013," violators face a penalty of eight years imprisonment and a fine not exceeding P300,000.

Thats not really what scares me.

What scares me is that most of their coinage is plated nickel. Ouch.

Greshams law in affect for the 1995 to 2003 Brass 25 Sentimo:
US $1 = 43 PHPeso * 4 coins per peso = 172 * 3.8g = 653.6g / 454g = 1.44 lbs Brass * $1.50 = $2.16

Therefore... $1.00 = $2.16

Most of the coins are plated steel, not plated nickel.
