Counterfeit or not? 50 Centimes Haiti 1827-1833

A year or so ago I found this 50 Centimes Haitian coin and decided to look it up. I was pretty confused at first because the coin is supposed to be 5 grams of silver... instead mine was copper. So I did a little digging and realized that its a counterfeit from that time period ( or at least believed)
To me it doesn't make since how you could pass off a copper coin as a silver coin, but that seems to be the only explanation Ive seen... but now i'm wondering if this could be a Trial strike just like the Czech coin i am trying to find information about.
I thought it was neat and you all might find it interesting.
